Department PurposeThe Division of Development & Alumni Relations (DEVAR) provides leadership inbuilding enduring public trust, understanding, and support for UC Davis and its mission of teaching, research, and public service. UC Davis' Office of University Development provides leadership, coordination and support services to help the university meet its mission of research, teaching and service by building philanthropic support and executing approved fundraising programs that support the university's highest priorities and initiatives. Within DEVAR, the Foundation and Corporate Engagement (FCE) office serves as a one-stop shop to connect industry and foundations across the university based on interest and opportunity. Our specialized team works with faculty and staff in collaboration with various campus offices and unit partners to build and manage strategic and holistic campus-wide corporate and foundation partnerships.JOB SUMMARYWithin the office of Foundation and Corporate Engagement (FCE), and under the direction of the Managing Executive Director, Foundation Engagement, the Director of Foundation Engagement is a metric-driven position that supports a strategic plan to maintain and increase foundation support for UC Davis, including both the academic and health campuses. The Director of Foundation engagement is an advanced fundraising professional with recognized expertise in foundation-related frontline fundraising who independently performs the full range of responsibilities of a university development officer, analyzes problems/issues of diverse scope, and determines solutions. Using advanced fundraising concepts, plans, organizes, and directs fundraising campaigns which include multiple components. The results of the incumbent's efforts have major impact on overall program goals and assignments and are typically at the "major gifts" level. POSITION INFORMATIONOPEN UNTIL FILLED. Minimum Qualifications Minimum Education/Experience Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experienceA minimum of 3 years of director-level experience in foundation relations in higher education or a complex non-profit environmentDemonstrated experience in foundation prospecting, engagement, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship. The expectation will be that with a mature portfolio, this position will be responsible for securing a minimum of $2.5M per yearDemonstrated success in writing persuasive and compelling program or project grant proposals Possess excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills, including advanced political acumen to establish and maintain good working relationships at all organizational levels and with outside constituencies. Experience in creating materials for educating faculty and staff on applicable laws, rules, regulations, institutional policies related to philanthropic grants and contract as well a building strong partnerships to amplify foundation support opportunities. Possess project/program management skills, including ability to set and meet program/project goals and objectives within budget and time constraints. Awareness, knowledge, and skill in applying diversity, equity and inclusion to one's work. A profound belief in the value of a diverse and safe workforce and a commitment to achieve this goal through collaboration and team building, working cooperatively with a diverse group of department and campus constituencies Preferred Qualifications:Preferred Education/Experience 5 years' experience in performing foundation fundraising and engagement activities within a higher education environment with a significant portion of experience at a Research I institution with an academic medical center.Experience working within the UC system in a progressive role related to fundraising, proposal/grant writing, or sponsored research Experience working in a holistic model of engagement within a joint foundation and corporate engagement teamExperience working with various technologies including advanced knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite, database and project management software, and CRM systems.
