Sam Houston State University Advancement is seeking a Director of Development to join their team. Reporting to the Associate Vice President of Development, the Director of Development will focus on identifying and cultivating prospects with an emphasis on gifts of $25,000 and above.The Director will assess the interests and desires of these prospects and work to align their philanthropy with the various divisions and departments within the College of Arts and Media and College of Humanities and Social Sciences. If you have a track record of success in major gift fundraising, we encourage you to apply for this exciting role. Bachelor's degree in a related field with five years of experience in a related field required. Experience in higher education preferred. Demonstrated success in closing several $25K+ gifts preferred. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of education. Primary responsibilities include but not limited to: * Builds and carries an active portfolio of 30 - 50 prospective donors.* Engages in qualification, strategy development, relationship building, and closing of gifts at $25,000+ for the College of Arts and Media and College of Humanities and Social Sciences* Participates in goal setting, proposal preparation, strategy development, and stewardship as required for donors in the portfolio.* Successfully and consistently deliver funding proposals to prospective and current donors.* Effectively work with, communicate with, and collaborate with faculty, academic leaders, and other development colleagues to develop campus-wide funding opportunities and reach goals.* Maintains appropriate electronic documentation on a timely basis, including engagement activities, proposal tracking, contact reports, donor strategies, and forecasting.* Demonstrates ability to execute successful full-cycle donor strategy.* Willingness to collaborate and work as part of a team.* Performs other duties as assigned. Other Specifications: * Knowledge of Sam Houston State policies and procedures.* Experience with Blackbaud Raiser's Edge database.* Ability to build lasting relationships.* Demonstrated ability to be a self-starter.* Ability to drive results.* Highly effective communication skills (written, verbal, interpersonal).* Ability to think strategically and creatively and work well under pressure.* Capable of working independently while also engaging in collaboration between teams.* Ability to travel frequently to visit prospects and donors.* Ability to use discretion and maintain integrity.Sam Houston State University is an Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer and Smoke/Drug-Free Workplace.
