JOB PURPOSE: The Director of Advancement Services & Database Management supports and manages the data and reporting needs of the Advancement Office. The role is responsible for data integrity and CRM platform health while also analyzing database and website integration to maximize fundraising revenue and alumni engagement. Utilizing strong critical thinking skills, this role will design queries and metrics for data analysis and campaign monitoring including but not limited to all gift, pledge, donor, and alumni reporting within and external to the Advancement Office. DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES: 1. Deliver essential weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports for fundraising progress, including complex campaign reports.2. Write queries and deliver data sets for effective and efficient fundraising.3. Serve as chief data strategist for the department. Plan and oversee short and long-term improvements to all functions related to advancement data, including data migrations and the selection of subscription databases/services.4. Responsible for data hygiene, including data quality control, isolating issues for investigation and developing methods to apply in data clean up.5. In collaboration with the Gift Processing Coordinator, ensure that gift, pledge and biographical data are entered consistently and accurately. Direct staff in the timeliness and accuracy of gift receipts to donors, as well as benchmarks and reports on gift receiptproduction in accordance with IRS and CASE standards.6. Maintain current knowledge of best practices for data maintenance with particular attention to IRS standards, College policies and CASE standards.7. Manage data normalization for common data shared with other campus offices.8. Facilitate access and provide training on the College's fundraising database (Blackbaud Raiser's Edge) for the Advancement Office and related staff.9. In collaboration with the Gift Processing Coordinator, serve as liaison to the Finance Office for oversight of gift-related data feeds and associated balancing, gift processing mechanisms, online giving functionality and gift-related financial reporting. Page 2, Director Advancement Services10. Nurture a customer-service ethic among members of the Advancement Services team. Seek feedback from internal customers and drive constant improvement.11. Complete other duties as assigned. DESCRIPTION OF NONESSENTIAL DUTIES: 1. Serve as department liaison to Library Information Services (LIS).2. Support campus events as needed. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Directly supervise approximately two student interns. Carry out supervisory duties in accordance with college policies and applicable employment laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essentialduty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.)● Requires education generally equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in a related field.● Requires 3 to 5 years of related experience, such as analysis, business, and/or database management.● Requires excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate with employees, students, and faculty members.● Requires excellent supervisory skills to lead a small team of student workers.● Requires the ability to use a personal computer, Web browser, Raiser's Edge, Microsoft Office Suite, SQL editor, XML editor, and other subscription databases.● Requires exceptional analysis, troubleshooting, and critical thinking skills.
