Taysha Gene Therapies is a patient-centric gene therapy company focused on developing and commercializing AAV-based gene therapies for the treatment of monogenic diseases of the central nervous system in both rare and large patient populations. Position : Director, CMO Program Lead Reports to : Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Location : Dallas, TX; Durham, NC; Remote Overview of Position Reporting to the Chief Medical Officer, the CMO Program Lead serves as a key partner to the CMO and R&D leadership team by developing plans and strategies that assist the medical team to meet short- and long-term corporate goals. This role will provide oversight to key tactical and operational plans to continuously support cross-functional teamwork and efficiencies across the organization. This role will partner with teams across the R&D organization to understand key technical and tactical challenges and assist with developing appropriate and timely solutions to address such challenges. This role will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and participate in other key strategic business portfolio processes to successfully drive lean and fast execution of development along defined milestones. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Partner with the CMO to develop and drive short- and long-range program strategies to secure the product’s regulatory approval, market access, and maximize product value. Lead cross-functional program level core teams and serve as the strategic driver of program execution. Function as the interface across CMO functions and respond/delegate work to the respective owners. Strong operative leader, manager, and mediator across the CMO and broader R&D organization. Build bridges between strong scientific and operations-oriented functions and colleagues. Successfully collaborate and complement functional program manager(s). Revise and maintain program strategy anticipating internal/external drivers. Responsible for financial steering of long-term program budget(s). Empowered to make far-reaching program execution-related decisions. Accountable for strategic activities and connectivity across the CMO. Lead department-level operational risk identification, management, and mitigation efforts and report progress to senior leadership. Partner with appropriate functional areas to review and negotiate scope of work and budgets; participate in the development/amendment of external vendor contracts related to department-level activities. Provide an informed voice on program-related topics internally and externally. Assist with internal staffing and performance management, including training, coaching and performance reviews. Basic Requirements Must thrive working in a fast-paced, innovative environment while remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful, and efficient. Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to develop important relationships with key stakeholders, ability to identify issues and raise to key stakeholders to develop relevant and realistic plans, programs and recommendations. B.S./B.A. degree in relevant field of science required (advanced life sciences degree preferred) 5+ years’ experience in pharmaceutical R&D with familiarity in drug development processes. Experience in gene therapy, rare/orphan disease highly desirable. Strategic and entrepreneurial “can-do” attitude. Skilled in managing a high performing team. Comfortable navigating complex science and linking to corporate goals and business drivers. Must have demonstrated ability to solve problems with innovative solutions along with strong organizational skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills, professional presence, and ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels. Ability and willingness to travel up to 15% of the time (domestic and international). The level of this position will be based on the final candidate’s qualifications.
