Look no further than PathPoint's Project SEARCH team!PathPoint is seeking a full-time Direct Support Professional to join our Project SEARCH team at Avila Senior Living in San Luis Obispo, CA 93401 . Project SEARCH is a unique one-year internship program that enables adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to learn invaluable job skills in a competitive work setting. In this role, you will coach and support interns as they work through various job rotations at the hospital. This is a full-time position, Monday-Friday 7am-2:30pm. What You'll Do: Coach interns in soft skills such as professional communication, behavior and grooming/hygiene, and hard skills specific to their internship duties. Provide individualized support for interns, including job coaching, building natural supports, identifying job accommodations, and use of assistive technology. Collaborate with interns, employers, staff, and other partners to creatively address any issues affecting interns' training and employment. Help recruit interns for each new program year. Lead classroom discussions on a variety of employment-related skills. Write case notes, monthly intern evaluations, and other reports regularly. What We're Looking For: Patience, compassion, and the ability to interact with individuals with disabilities, their family members, community partners, and others in a positive and constructive manner. Strong relationship-building skills and ability to the program to potential interns Must pass Live Scan DOJ fingerprint background check, TB screening and basic health screening. Culturally sensitive and aware of differences in employees based on cultural backgrounds; aware of one's own culture and how someone's background may lead to biases; has the skills and resources needed to work with employees from all different cultures and the ability to avoid making biased assumptions based on someone's culture. The pay range is $15.50-$22.61 an hour. The pay range is subject to change based on a variety of factors, and the maximum pay represents the wage potential based on attaining the highest level of position experience, talent, and responsibilities. Bilingual: If you are bilingual (English-Spanish or English-ASL), the starting wage is $18.80 per hour and the pay range is $15.83-$23.74.
