Description:
Reports to: General Manager of Design and Development Description : Responsible for leading the design engineering teams, providing technical direction and processes and best practices for product design services. Responsibilities: Drive product development projects insuring adequate resources and timely design reviews Support the determination of product requirements as specified by the customer or any internal or external standards Direct the efforts of engineers to accomplish tasks Ensure product design liabilities are identified and mitigated Support the company efforts to reduce costs associated with supplied components Assure customer satisfaction through all activities associated with the design and development Assure all product design engineering activities are performed in accordance with established procedures Report to management any problems concerning product performance or timely completion of projects Attend meetings with internal and external customers Participate in ongoing performance management including but not limited to evaluations, recommendations of wage increases and necessary corrective action Ensure compliance with all company policies, safety standards, 5S practices, regulatory and/or customer requirements Authorities for an employee are granted by means of work instructions, policies and procedures and/or direction provided by management to meet the requirements of the customer Education: Minimum of Bachelor degree is required BSME or BS in engineering is preferred Experience: Some experience in Engineering Management Some experience with product development processes and disciplines preferably in an automotive industry Some experience in disciplined problem solving approach Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office products Knowledge of Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) systems Other: Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines Ability to adapt and manage change Ability to multitask in a deadline-driven environment Results focused Strong listening skills Excellent negotiation skills Proven communication and organization skills Work Environment: Capable of working in testing chambers with temperature ranges - 20C to 70C . This job operates in an office and manufacturing environment, and routinely uses standard office equipment. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. Physical Demands: The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The employee may also be required to work in hot temperatures.
