Description DLBA Naval Architects, formerly Donald L. Blount and Associates, a Division of Gibbs & Cox a wholly owned subsidiary of Leidos. DLBA is a naval architecture and marine engineering firm which provides consulting services for the development of a wide variety of boats: fiberglass recreational boats like Mastercraft's Aviara series, and aluminum workboats like the Kayak Express, custom Sportfishing vessels, and high speed motor yachts. We specialize in high-performance marine craft design and engineering yet support all types of vessels and clients from record-setting high-speed race boats to commercial marine tugs and barges.. Our team is often engaged with research and development projects bringing new technologies to the waterfront.DLBA Naval Architects, a division of Gibbs & Cox, is searching for full time Marine Designer.As a member of a multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for developing functional 3D CAD models and 2D construction drawings to support the development of steel, aluminum, and composite (a) recreational vessels, (b) commercial ship designs, and (c) U.S. Government programs from 20' to 250' feet in length.Primary ResponsibilitiesPrepare accurate and detailed designs, free form surface models and/or drawings based on concept sketches, photographs, or clearly stated functional requirements or appearances.Assisting naval architects and engineers in the design of boats and craft and providing solutions by applying existing design skills, techniques, and company procedures.Adheres to existing CAD standards and procedures in conjunction with other designers to improve product quality and efficiency.Clearly document work solutions and challenges. Collaborate with respective engineers to develop solutions.Complete drawing assignments accurately and on a timely basis utilizing CAD programs.Develop conceptual and artistic renderings of boats and crafts in accordance withacceptable commercial standards.Basic QualificationsU.S. Citizenship is required and candidates must be able to obtain a secret level security clearanceEducation: Post-high-school education in Computer Aided Design.2+ Years of experience developing 3-D designs and 2-D drawings to recreational and/or commercial standardsKnowledge of basic mechanical principles and practice.Demonstrated working knowledge with least two (2) of the following CAD software tools:AutoCAD for 2D draftingRhinoceros 3DShipConstructorAutodesk InventorStrong oral, written and presentation skills.Strong time management and organization skills as an independent contributor.Demonstrated interpersonal skills as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team.Must have visual and audio abilities to perform all aforementioned job tasks.Preferred QualificationsShipyard experienceDesign, testing, construction or operations/maintenance of small craft is considered an advantage.Pay Range:Pay Range $44,200.00 - $79,900.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline onlyand not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
