Dates Needed: May 18 - August 14, 2020 Position Summary: This position is responsible for creating high quality programs for small groups of children between the ages of 5 and 14. They are also expected to keep the children safe in an outdoor environment and make sound decisions with the help of a co-counselor. They should be role-models for the children exemplifying the 5 Core Values of YMCA of the Rockies; Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility, and Faith. This position comes with room & board (dormitory-style housing with 3 meals per day/7 days per week) and tons of employee perks plus pay! Essential Functions / Requirements: Experience working with children required Ability to plan, lead, organize, and implement program activities Ability to work effectively as a member of a team Ability to work with little direct supervision Fluent in speaking, writing, and reading English Must have the physical ability to lead and participate in camp activities which include, but are not limited to, hiking, swimming, team building activities, campfires, skits, and physical games Organize and lead a variety of small and large group activities each week Create a weekly schedule for assigned camp group Identify and respond to camper behavior issues Assist in maintaining accurate program records including incident reports, logbook documentation, and daily attendance Understand and follow all emergency procedures associated with day camp Understand and follow all safety guidelines for day camp Clear communication with parents about camper's experiences at day camp Ensure that day camp sites are kept clean, organized, and free of litter Promote a cooperative, positive, and problem-solving environment at all times Ability to work cooperatively with others in a diverse environment recblid bdo8mg3czcs8zxs9ycz8q0smzz1zdr H.S.
