Converse County Technical Services Department has a full-time employment opportunity for CUSTODIAN! The Custodian performs a wide variety of routine and semi-intensive custodial duties to ensure the clean and safe condition of buildings, contents, and equipment. This is a full-time position, with a starting wage of $36,000 annually ($17.31 hourly rate), and includes a generous benefits package. JOB SUMMARY Performs routine and semi-intensive duties to ensure clean and safe condition of buildings, contents, and equipment. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES ROUTINE DAILY/WEEKLY CUSTODIAL TASKS : Sweep, mop, polish, and burnish floors in offices and hallways; Dust and polish furniture, blinds, and equipment; Clean restrooms and fill dispensers; Vacuum, spot clean, and maintain rugs, carpets, and furniture using commercial-type vacuum cleaners; Empty trash receptacles; Maintain exterior of buildings and grounds in such a manner so they are free of trash and debris; Report electrical, mechanical, and equipment problems of facilities to the Custodian Foreman; Stock and maintain adequate levels of supplies in the buildings that are serviced; Maintain assigned equipment, tools, and custodial closets in operable, safe, and attractive status. BI-ANNUAL/MONTHLY CUSTODIAL TASKS : Wash interior and exterior glass/windows; Shampoo rugs, carpets, and furniture using commercial-type shampooing equipment; Wash interior walls; Deep clean restrooms. SEASONAL CUSTODIAL TASKS : May be required to shovel and remove snow and ice from designated areas such as sidewalks, entryways, and roofs as required; Perform emergency minor repairs and cleaning as necessary; Maintain indoor green spaces. OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH & SAFETY : Proper posture is required to eliminate acute and chronic low back pain; Wear protective devices such as back supports, eyewear, non-skid pads on shoes, and PPE when cleaning biohazards, as job conditions demand; Read, understand, and observe all precautions, and proper methods of use on all chemicals, equipment, tools and materials; Complete all required training; Knowledge of universal hygiene precautions. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES & COMPETENCIES SUPERVISORY RESPOSIBILITIES: None. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS : To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED), and one year of custodial experience; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. OTHER REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES : Ability to perform manual tasks and to work independently with little or no supervision. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, OTHER: Must possess and maintain a valid Wyoming Driver’s License of required status; ability to be insured under the County’s automobile insurance coverage; must be at least 18 year of age. This position is subject to satisfactory criminal background check, drug and alcohol screening. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
