Global Science & Technology, Inc (GST), a growing scientific and high technology company, is seeking a Cryogenic Engineer to support our ESES program. This position is located in Greenbelt, MD but is temporarily approved for telework due to Covid-19. A hybrid model of onsite and telework each week will likely be put in place in the coming months. Position Summary: A Cryogenic Engineer with fabrication experience will support the development of cryogenic, thermal, and vacuum control systems. The position involves on-site work at the Goddard Space Flight Center Detector Characteristics Center Primary Duties: Designing and building set ups for detector testing, including cryogenic set ups Testing of detectors and other semiconductor devices or instrumentation Data collection, analysis, and reporting Operation and routine maintenance of test equipment which include Lakeshore temperature controller, temperature monitors, integrating sphere, spectrum analyzer, function generators, monochromator, black body source, LEACH controllers, vacuum pump, cryo-cooler and other lab equipment. Troubleshooting cryogenic detector test set up for optical and electrical characterization of detectors. Operation of test equipment including systems operating with cryogens for testing detectors Provide software programming support in IDL, DSP, C, and Linux/Unix based system. Written and oral reporting, as required. Attendance at monthly Branch safety meetings and adherence to Branch and Goddard safety measures. Laboratory upkeep and cleaning, as required. Required Education/Experience/Skills: Bachelor's degree in Physics, Engineering or related field and 2-5 years of relevant professional experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience with emphasis on cryogenics. Selected applicants will be subject to a government background investigation.
