Crew Boat Assistant Ergon Marine & Industrial Supply, Inc., has an opening for a Crew Boat Assistant at its Vicksburg location. EMIS services vessels and tows and this job allows you to be a part of that support of the river crews. Ergon is a family-owned oil and gas company based in the Jackson, MS area with facilities across the US. EMIS is a subsidiary with facilities that support marine traffic up and down the Mississippi River. Our facilities are located in Vicksburg, MS, and Memphis, TN. Ergon offers a competitive benefits package: 401(k) Matching, Health, Life, Dental, Holidays, Vacation, Sick Leave, Tuition Assistance, and Profit Sharing The Crew Boat Assistant position will assist the crew boat pilot with any task needed to deliver supplies to customer vessels in a safe and efficient manner. Crew Boat Assistant Responsibilities include the following: Ensure safety is top priority while performing all tasks Responsible for safe loading of supplies by the forklifts, assuring stability of the vessel and placement of pallets Load parts and grocery orders when needed Ensure all customer supplies are loaded before leaving the dock Ensure all crew change personnel use proper PPE during crew changes Monitor white board in Dispatch each shift for incoming vessel needs Assist crew boat pilot with paperwork and return all signed paperwork to the appropriate department upon arrival to the dock Complete an EMIS Multi-Purpose Tracking Form for items put off by customer vessels, delivering these items to the appropriate department upon arrival to the dock Perform general vessel maintenance and cleaning Use proper PPE while aboard EMIS vessel or dock Ask questions and understand the safe way to perform a task before attempting to do it Be familiar with company policies, procedures, safety rules and regulations, and abide by them at all times Responsible for reporting any hazardous or unsafe condition to the crew boat pilot and making any immediate correction of which he is capable Responsible for any other duties as assigned Crew Boat Assistant Qualifications: High school diploma or GED Valid TWIC Card (Transportation Workers Identification Card) Valid Driver's License Must have good communication skills, work well with others, and have good customer service skills Clerical experience Must be able to swim Any offer of employment will be contingent on a routine background check, a pre-employment drug screen, and an acceptable motor vehicle report.
