JOB DESCRIPTION Position: Natural Resource Crew Corpsmember Conservation Corps North Bay (CCNB) Is a job training program for young adults 18-30 living in Marin and Sonoma Counties. Program participants work 32 hours a week, have the opportunity to earn a high school diploma, and receive career counseling to prepare for a future career. Projects are outdoors and include fire fuel reduction, flood prevention, and creek maintenance. Members will learn how to use hand and power tool use, including operating a chainsaw and chipper. CCNB offers paid job training to earn certifications such as: Forklift Operator, Chipper, Sawyer (Chainsaw), OSHA-10, CPR, and First Aid. Additional supports include job placement assistance and assistance in navigating barriers such as; obtaining a driver's license, registering for additional occupational training, paying for college expenses, and connecting to resources. PARTICIPANT RESPONSIBILITIES Schedule for those without a diploma: Work Monday- Thursday 7am-3:30 pm (paid) School Monday- Thursday 3:40-4:40; and Fridays 9:30-3:30 (unpaid) Career Pathways Fridays 8am-10am (unpaid) Schedule for those with a diploma: Work Monday- Thursday 7am-3:30 pm (paid) Career Pathways Fridays 8am-10am (unpaid) Work cooperatively with a diverse group of people Report daily to a crew supervisor and carry out all assigned tasks Perform strenuous work in all kinds of weather - heat, rain, wind, etc. Participate in building and maintaining trails, restoring creeks, fire fuel reduction, and flood mitigation projects OPPORTUNITIES Earn a High School diploma Build employment skills Improve team-building skills Earn certifications (OSHA-10, Forklift, Sawyer, CPR/ First Aid, Chipper) Leadership/Supervisory training Promotional opportunities include: Safety Officer, Assistant Crew Leader, Driver Assistance in developing and maintaining a resume and interviewing skills Assistance in applying and paying for post-secondary education opportunities Post-corps job search and education assistance and support for two (2) years BENEFITS $17.25 an hour to start, with opportunities for pay raises after 2 months Medical benefits available ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS Must be eligible to work in the United States Must have acceptable I-9 documents: https://www.uscis.gov/i-9-central/form-i-9-acceptable-documents ) Agree to adhere to all CCNB rules and regulations as defined in the CCNB member handbook CCNB is a job training program for young adults 18-30 years old All applicants must be fully vaccinated effective January 2022.
