Corporate Warranty Quality Engineer

Description:

Reports To: Manager of Corporate Warranty Section Description: Performs quality engineering assignments, utilizing problem solving techniques, process improvements, auditing techniques and quality principles. Coordinates and implements continuous improvement methods and processes that support product quality, cost and delivery goals and objectives. Analyzes warranty and cost data for reporting and KPI purposes. Responsibilities: Conduct detailed trend analysis of warranty return parts, customer data, claims, costs and exposure going forward to determine corrective and preventative actions. Manage and report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in order to meet customer requirements. Proactively contribute and lead cross-functional teams in the development of problem solving & root cause analysis. Write and produce daily / weekly / monthly / annual reports to present progress to customer and Kasai Management. Report fault and liability information to internal and external customers for warranty claim prevention and cost reduction. Statistical process controls. Design of experiments. Oversees data collection and interpretation thereof for continuous improvement activities. Support the implementation, achievement, and maintenance of the Quality and Environmental Policies and Procedures. Identifies potential or existing problems, performs analysis and provides counter measures. Meets quality and quantity levels of assigned work, housekeeping, and safe work practices Evaluate the results of internal corrective action responses and provide feedback. Interact with external customers, internal customers, and suppliers. Must be able to work any shift and overtime as required to support department / company scheduled targets / objectives. Ability to travel for extended periods of time with limited prior notice. Auditing of established processes / systems for compliance to controlled APQP related documents. Coordinating revisions / corrections as needed. Strong knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA), Parts Quality Control Table (PQCT), Manufacturing Quality Control (MQC), & Control Plan (CP). Ensure Past Problem History (PPH) from warranty analysis are communicated across all product/customer platforms and captured on new projects. Working knowledge of customer specific requirements. Ability to conduct benchmarking and best practices for designs and future trends. Provide guidance and cross-training for other team members. Undertake special projects and support KNA Plants as required. Authorities for an employee are granted by means of work instructions, policies and procedures and/or direction provided by management to meet the requirements of the customer Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering, industrial technology, or equivalent. Associate's degree in a technical field; plus a minimum of 2 years of production or quality experience. High school diploma, plus a minimum of 4 years of production or quality experience. Experience: Previous automotive experience preferred. Ability to speak Spanish and or Japanese helpful, but not required. Training Specific to Position: N/A Skills: Computer skills in working with Microsoft Windows and above average Office skills specifically Excel. CAD (V-Ridge or Catia) experience preferred, but not required. Above average mathematical skills, communication skills, written skills, and verbal skills. Ability to interpret blueprints, drawings, schematics, etc. Capable of overall professionalism in a business environment. Capable of using basic measurements devices such as micrometers, calipers, indicators and etc. Strong negotiation skills. Strong self-management skills. Work Environment: This job operates in an office and manufacturing environment, and routinely uses standard office equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. Employee is required to use / wear the appropriate safety equipment when in the manufacturing environment. Physical Demands: The employee frequently is required to sit, stand, walk, and use hands to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The employee may be required to work in hot or cold temperatures.
