Job Summary: The primary responsibility of the Corporate Safety Manager at Nursery Supplies, Inc. is to develop, implement, and support safety and environmental systems that are specifically designed to anticipate, recognize, evaluate, and control workplace safety and environmental hazards and opportunities within the organization. In addition to providing overall Safety leadership and guidance for facilities, the Corporate Safety Manager also plays a crucial role in integrating environmental safety and quality compliance in alignment with manufacturing operations at Nursery Supplies, Inc. Furthermore, the Corporate Safety Manager champions operational excellence by aligning employees to NSI's EHS vision, monitoring metrics, providing leadership and training, performing internal audits, and driving continuous improvement of the company's environmental/safety management systems. The Corporate Safety Manager also assists in developing corporate EHS and Quality policies and training programs in support of company goals and objectives, establishing a safety culture that is aligned with NSI's EHS goals and objectives, with continuous EHS objectives. Supervisory Responsibilities: None Duties/Responsibilities Keep the technology of NSI in a good working order, and work closely with their team, ensuring each situation is thoroughly resolved and all components are in working order. Required Skills/Abilities: Prepares and schedules training to cover emergency procedures, workplace safety, and other relevant topics. Monthly Requirement Training/Coaching of Line Managers & HR on EHS and Quality ownership at the department level. Onboard new EHS/QA leads and serve as dotted line functional coach to all. Develops and implements inspection policies and procedures, and a schedule of routine inspections. Inspects the facilities to identify safety, health, and environmental risks. Drafts inspection reports to document inspection findings. Develops environmental, health, and safety procedures for all areas of the company and monitors compliance. Represents the facility during environmental /safety agency inspections. Ensures that material safety data sheets are maintained and readily accessible when needed. Workers Compensation ensures completeness and to ensure adequate investigation. Good judgment in interpreting medical facts presented by a physician(s) and recommending these facts to the HR Director in determining an individual's capacity to engage in gainful occupation for the purpose of ensuring implementation of timely return to work processes and cost containment. Provides assistance to site HR Managers (e.g., employee injury procedures, return to work processes, etc.) for the purpose of assisting sites with accident reporting and prevention. o Provides information relative to Workers Compensation claims, processes and procedures as required by law. Documents telephone conversations, witness statements, medical reports, accident investigation results. Performs other related duties as assigned. Key Relationships: This position is a member of the Core Operations Leadership Team. The Corporate EHS Manager reports directly to NSI's HR Director with dotted line reporting to the Vice President of Operations Internal relationships include support to site; Production/Plant Managers, Human Resources, Quality, Engineering, Supervisors, and other plant employees. Education and Experience: At least two years of related experience is required. Associate degree, Bachelor's degree, or certification in this field is preferred A strong desire to learn new skills. A self-motivated application of one's technical interests, technical hobbies, and side projects. A basic technical understanding of I.T. Software and malware Competent with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times. Indicate if required to work weekends, nights, or be on-call as a regular part of the job. Travel requirements. 25 % of time Job Posted by ApplicantPro
