About the Job: The Corporate Accountant II reports to the Controller and is responsible for handling all aspects of the general accounting and financial reporting for all Corporate level entities utilizing the Yardi System accounting software and MS Office Suite of applications, in addition to handling special analysis projects. The Corporate Accountant II will also be responsible for researching key issues related to properties in general and will lead projects as the need arises. RESPONSIBILITIES Work closely with accounting management and supervision on special projects and analysis. Ensure that all transactions are properly recorded according to current policies and procedures. Ensure that month, quarter, and year end closing and reporting packages for both corporate entities are completed with accuracy and in a timely manner. Maintain cash control for all corporate accounts including cash reporting/monitoring and monthly reconciliation of all corporate bank accounts. Understand the terms of legal agreements with financial and governmental entities regarding terms and compliance issues (debt and tax) and the related deadlines. Preparation of special reports and/or billings required by management or third-party entities to ensure compliance with reporting and debt covenants. Research and follow-up on all issues related to corporate accounting. Provide timely updates on status of outstanding issues until resolution. Preparation and updating of all audit schedules and providing required assistance during the annual audits. Preparation and updating of all Monthly schedules and Quarterly updates in supporting the Consolidation procedures. Allocate shared costs i.e. payroll, benefits, insurances, etc. and complete journal entries to coordinate with staff accountants. Monitor, reconcile and record Inter-company transactions. Monitor and reconcile lines of credit. Review and record corporate credit card transactions. Complete annual census data reporting. Identify enhancements to processes/procedures within the accounting department and other departments and assists in the development and implementation of reporting efficiencies. Must attend Company sponsored events that relate to the development of the Team, which from time to time, may include overnight stays at locations away from the employee's home. Other duties as requested. EXPERIENCE Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Business. Three+ years of strong experience in the various general ledger areas including analysis, bank reconciliations, bank covenant compliance and financial reporting. Real estate accounting background, preferred. Experience may offset education requirement. Very strong computer skills, especially with MS Office Suite applications and report writing. Strong Excel skills required. Yardi experience preferred. Strong organizational and communication skills. Maintain high volume workload and able to handle multiple tasks. Also, be able to take instructions and work closely with Accounting Management staff and Executive Management staff. Experience with accounting for multiple entities, inter-company transactions, and allocations. Be a strong team player with a good attitude and be able to work independently with minimal supervision. Able to take initiative on projects. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT Operate computer and office equipment. Work is primarily sedentary in nature.
