Responsibilities:• Prepare, review, and ensure timely delivery of Financial Statement packages for the portfolio of Condominium and Homeowners Associations following the quality standards as instructed by Management. Review work of staff accountants for accuracy.• Develop internal control policies, guidelines, and procedures for activities such as budget administration, cash and credit management, and accounts receivable and accounts payable.• Prepare or direct preparation of financial statements, business activity reports, financial position forecasts, annual budgets, or reports required by regulatory agencies.• Provide oversight and direction to the A/R and A/P departments regarding accounting policies and procedures and efficient control and utilization of financial resources.• Monitor client banking activities to ensure that bank balances are correct, and postings are timely and allocated to the right accounts.• Provide support to Property Managers on the annual budgeting requirements of the clients.• Ability to present financial statements to a board of directors and be able to explain variances as well as answer board questions related to the clients' financial position.• Coordinate with external auditors and tax preparers of client accounts to ensure compliance with state and federal requirements and statutes.• Direct supervision of accounting department staff including staff accountants, accounts receivable and accounts payable team members. Qualifications:• Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting plus minimum five (5) years of industry experience in the role of Controller. Additionally, three (3) years of supervisor experience showing management of a team of financial professionals. OTHER QUALIFICATIONS • Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, and the analysis and reporting of financial data.• Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.• Familiar with various accounting and financial analysis software, spreadsheet tools, and Enterprise Resource Planning software and tools.• Experience with adhering to GAAP and other financial and accounting standards. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS PROFICIENCIES • Good communication, writing and interpersonal skills with ability to manage a diverse group of employees with varying knowledge, skills, and abilities. Ability to communicate complicated and technical financial information to association board members involving financial issues, trends and forecasts.• Detail-oriented and strong organizational and multi-tasking skills.• Must be proficient in Windows and Microsoft Office Suite, including but not limited to word processing, spreadsheet maintenance, navigating databases, record keeping and researching the Internet.• Ability to work with sensitive or confidential information.• Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure.• Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently and be self-driven.• Critical thinking, problem-solving, judgment, and decision-making abilities.
