Summary We are looking for a detail-oriented Controller to join our organization! This person will be responsible for preparing financial reports, performing account reconciliations, maintaining the general ledger, assisting with tax filing preparations, assisting with audit preparations, and performing other accounting duties as assigned. To be successful, you should have a solid working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and strong financial analysis skills as well as possess strong Excel skills, be detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to work independently. Essential Job Functions Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implement a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk. Oversee the production of periodic financial reports; ensure that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards. Produces the annual budget and forecasts; reports significant budget differences to management. Provides financial analysis, with emphasis on capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations. Recommend benchmarks that will be used to measure the Company’s performance. Ability to review large data sets and analyze information for business review and KPI metrics Work with external auditors and provide needed information for the annual audit. Investigating and resolving audit findings, account discrepancies, and issues of non-compliance. File quarterly and annual reports. Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements. Maintaining and reconciling balance sheet and general ledger accounts. Assisting with tax filing preparations for federal, state, local, 1099 and special tax returns. Contributing to the development of new or amended accounting systems, programs, and procedures. Review contracts for revenue recognition and ASC 606 compliance. Oversee an accounting team and supporting them as necessary. Other duties as assigned. Key Competencies Strong working knowledge of GAAP. Strong financial analysis skills. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Strong organizational and stress management skills. Ability to train staff. Ability to work independently Required Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required. 5+ years of accounting experience. Experiencing overseeing an accounting team. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly with Excel. Proficiency in ERP systems (Sage Intacct preferred) and workflow management.
