Job description Summary Works on construction projects, usually working in utility capacity, by transferring from one task to another where demands require worker with varied experience and ability to work without close supervision by performing the following duties.Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Measures distances from grade stakes, drives stakes, and stretches tight line.Bolts, nails, aligns, and blocks up under forms.Signals operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery to conform to grade specifications. Levels ealth to fine grade specifications.Mixes concrete.Smooths and finishes freshly poured cement or concrete.Erects scaffolding, shoring, and braces.Mops, brushes, or spreads paints or bituminous compounds over surfaces for protection.Sprays materials such as water, sand, steam, vinyl, paint, or stucco through hose to clean, coat, or seal surfaces.Applies caulking compounds by hand or with caulking gun to seal crevices.Grinds, sands, or polishes surfaces such as concrete, marble, terrazzo, or wood flooring.Demolishes buildings, saws lumber, dismantles forms, removes projections from concrete, mounts pipe hangers, and cuts and attaches insulating material.Assist in general site concrete work activities including digging, grubbing, moving forms and reinforcing steel, concrete placement, and clean upAssist in general building concrete work activities including moving forms and reinforcing steel, concrete placement, and clean upAssist in general masonry tender work as necessaryLearn rebar sizing, tying, cutting, bendingLearn the proper use, operation and maintenance of company equipment (concrete saw, jackhammer, cut-off saw, concrete buggys, etc.)Assist in structural steel erectionPerform as a competent helper for general building concrete work activitiesDemonstrate knowledge of basic construction materials, fasteners and equipmentKnow rebar sizing, tying, cutting, bendingAssist in basic door frame, door, window installationsAssist in metal stud, drywall and ceiling installationsAssist in constructing advanced concrete forming systemsAssist in basic finish carpentry activitiesAssist in any specialty construction activitiesPerform as a competent helper for basic steel, roofing and siding activitiesPerform as a competent helper for basic rough carpentry activitiesPerform as a competent helper for basic concrete forming activity Learn, follow and properly use crane signalsDemonstrate the proper use and care of any advanced power toolsLearn proper materials and methods for patching and rubbing of wallsLearn use of basic carpentry, concrete carpentry and steel materials, fasteners and equipmentSupervisory ResponsibilitiesThis job has no supervisory responsibilities.CompetenciesTo perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:Problem Solving - Works well in group problem solving situations; Uses reason even when dealing with emotional topics.Technical Skills - Pursues training and development opportunities; Strives to continuously build knowledge and skills.Customer Service - Meets commitments.Interpersonal Skills - Listens to others without interrupting; Keeps emotions under control; Remains open to others' ideas and tries new things.Oral Communication - Listens and gets clarification; Participates in meetings.Written Communication - Able to read and interpret written information.Teamwork - Contributes to building a positive team spirit; Supports everyone's efforts to succeed.
