Position: Youth Camping Crew Member (ages 16-18) Location: Based out of Boise, ID, but local housing is not needed as crews camp together for their entire session. Project locations generally include national forests and parks throughout the state of Idaho. Position Details: Idaho Conservation Corps is currently recruiting for many paid summer positions. If you are looking to gain more experience for your future career, Idaho Conservation Corps has a spot for you. The challenge and simplicity of weeks spent working outside on meaningful conservation projects will give you the chance to gain perspective, learn new skills, meet new friends, and discover new opportunities. Build your future with Idaho Conservation Corps A Better You : Earn money and potential school credit while gaining job skills and professional references needed to build your resume. Meet new people and build physical and mental strength while spending weeks immersed in the wild mountains of Idaho. A Better Planet : Spend 4- 5 weeks working on conservation projects such as tree planting, fuels reduction, invasive plant removal, trail construction, and fencing. Play a vital role in improving our public lands and the environment. Benefits/Tuition: Youth Camping Corps participants earn up to $1,915, including bonuses , for their participation in the program. The base stipend is $333 per week with uniform, rustic camping, and food included, equaling $1,665 for the five-weeks. Members can earn up to $50 per week in bonuses, adding up to $1,915. There is a tuition cost for this educational program of $300 with scholarships available based on need . Hours: Though schedules can vary, most crews will conduct project work Monday through Friday. On Saturday and Sunday, crews will stay together to conduct resupply, shower, do laundry and participate in recreational activities (e.g., hike). During the week, crews will have a 30 minute lunch break as well as several rest/water breaks throughout the day. Required qualifications: -Proof of U.S citizenship or legal residency -16-19 years old -Ability to hike several miles and be on foot for up to 8 hours per day -Able to camp for the entirety of the session away from modern conveniences ( i.e. phones, electronics, etc.) -Positive mental attitude, willingness to learn, and a team player -Desire to conserve natural spaces and make an impact on the environment -Ability to follow safety protocols Idaho Conservation Corps is an Equal Opportunity Employer - Our core purpose is to provide opportunities for youth and young adults to learn, grow, and experience success.
