Our CNC work centers, high-speed routing machines and knife cutting systems offer 2D cutting and 3, 4 and 5-axis milling of a wide range of materials including: single-ply materials, composites, honeycomb core, plastics, ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Position: Composites Structures Technician - 2nd Shift Job Description Summary: Hera Technologies, LLC (the "Company") is seeking a highly motivated Composites Structures Technician to join its team working in a hands-on, collaborative environment. The individual will perform the responsibilities listed below and other duties as required by the Company. The successful candidate must be familiar with a manufacturing environment, a self-starter who pays attention to detail and accuracy and take responsibility for their work. FLSA Classification: Hourly non-exempt Type: Full-time Salary Range: $21 to $24 USD per hour Work Hours: 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM, Monday through Friday; Some overtime and weekend work may be necessary. Hours may be adjusted at the discretion of your supervisor. Reports to: Composites Manager Location: 100% onsite at 1055 E Francis St. Ontario, CA 91761 Essential Job Duties (which include, but not limited to): Read and comprehend written and verbal instructions, detailed blueprints and other similar authorized drawings and documents, and be capable of doing basic mathematical calculations. Trim and finish composite and composite metallic assemblies. Assemble structures including setup, bonding and fastener applications. Surface prep, using grit blast, hand abrade and power abrasion techniques. Repair composite defects. Use tooling holes, pilot holes, or by hand (as required), per drawing or tooling instruction. Align parts and secure in place using clecos or tooling/hand clamps. Check for good edge margins and alignment. Select drill bits, reamers and/or countersinking tools for pilot and full-size holes. Drill, ream, countersink full size holes in parts/assemblies, in proper sequence and to correct size using drill motor. Set countersinking tools to proper depth as required. Disassemble parts and deburr holes using chip chasers, deburring tools, and files to prepare for installation of fasteners. Load and unload ovens to bond detail parts to assemblies. Handle and dispose of hazardous materials in approved manner. Determine and obtain correct type and size fasteners. Cold work holes to prepare for close tolerance fastener installation. Install bushings into housings using arbor press and/or hydraulic puller. Apply liquid nitrogen to facilitate installation of bushings. Install fasteners in correct sequence per drawing, using correct tools (e.g., rivet gun, drill motor, power screwdriver, "C" squeeze and ratchet wrench). Prepare parts for bagging, including placement of bleeders, thermocouples, probes and vacuum connections. Perform vacuum bag processing, bonding, and oven/autoclave curing. Make basic layouts on parts or assemblies to establish reference points and to check dimensions using calipers, micrometers, precision scales and torque wrenches. Understand and execute work orders in a timely and professional manner. Maintain clean, organized work areas and securely stores equipment and supplies. Inspect work for the highest quality. Maintain strict attention to detail when working at customer's property. Follows all safety policies and procedures. Ensures that required documentation is complete and in compliance with regulations and standards. Support 5-S and adhere to health, safety, and environmental company guidelines. P erform cross-functional operations. The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by the individual(s) assigned to this position. Minimum Requirements: High school diploma or equivalency certificate. 2+ years of experience using hands tools in the aerospace, manufacturing, marine or automotive industry. Preferred Requirements: Experience with reaming, honing and/or countersinking of uniform close tolerance holes in proper sequence while using the correct tool for the job (e.g., rivet gun, drill motor, power screwdriver, "C" squeeze and ratchet wrench). Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings, an understanding for drawing symbols, flag notes and general notes. Experience working with composites. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, read SOPs (standard operating procedures). Attention to detail and accuracy while working within a fast-paced production environment. Autoclave operation experience preferred. Experience with oven curing. Work authorization: Must be authorized to work in the US. Must be willing to undergo a criminal background investigation and soft-inquiry credit check. Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical examination , including a drug and alcohol test. Work environment: Employee spends most of the day on their feet and must follow strict safety rules. They wear safety glasses to protect their eyes from airborne debris. Loud noise from machinery requires use of hearing protectors. They wear hard toe shoes or boots to protect their feet from potentially dropped objects.
