Light of Life Rescue Mission is a safe refuge for homeless and hurting people in the Pittsburgh area. Our ministry is certified as a 'Best Christian Workplace' by BCWI, a national institute benchmarking faith-based organizations. We are seeking a Community Health Worker to be a part of the Mission's collaborative and comprehensive approach to healthcare and wellness . This individual plays a vital role assisting those we serve navigate the healthcare and social services system . Light of Life is nearing completion of a Capital Campaign and relocation plan which will provide the successful applicant an opportunity to be a part of exciting growth at the Mission. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Helping guests and clients in the Light of Life community access resources like health insurance, quality care, and wellness information Coach clients in communicating and interacting with health care/social service systems Educate clients understand their health condition(s) and develop ways to improve their health and lifestyle Influence guests to adopt healthier behaviors and lifestyle choices Deliver health information and concepts that will be culturally acceptable Provide health care/social service resources to individuals Offer informal counseling, support, and follow-up Be an advocate for local health needs Administer health services such as blood pressure monitoring or first aid Translate and interpret for health care/social service providers and clients Serve as a liaison between Light of Life and outside community partners on health-related topics Advise clients, guests, and Light of Life staff on medications and how to administer them properly. Due to the interface with the clients, all jobs at Light of Life require employees to: Walk alongside clients as a disciple of Christ and share the Gospel with them through actions and words. Establish mutual trust and create a safe, authentic environment. Serve clients and co-workers in a Christlike manner and practice a growth-oriented lifestyle. Help the clients make choices that are justifiably in their eternal best interest. Practice stewardship of all resources. Model personal responsibility, accountability, timely reporting and a willingness to self-evaluate. Requirements / Qualifications : Must have own, reliable transportation as travel between Light of L if e buildings will be required. Detail oriented; finds satisfaction in accuracy and process. Strong interpersonal skills; adept at building relationships with diverse groups. Calm, pleasant demeanor; able to create a safe and comfortable environment for those needin g assistance . Education/Experience : Associate's degree in psychology, social work, or public health administration required; B achelor's preferred At least 3 years experience in a clinical health services environment; LPN preferred Working background in behavioral health and substance abuse CPR certified Knowledge of chronic health conditions preferred Previous experience working for a nonprofit organization in ministry or human services a plus Computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft products , cloud-based systems , and online reference ability required Light of Life Ministries Inc offers a comprehensive benefits package including: Medical, Dental, Vision and other valuable benefits, which begin the first of the month following employment.
