CAIR San Francisco Bay Area is recruiting an experienced and accomplished candidate for its new Communications Manager role. The Manager will create and implement a comprehensive media and public relations strategy that capitalizes on CAIR-SFBA's expertise and enhances CAIR's image within key constituencies. Schedule Type: Full-time (Exempt). Occasional evenings and weekends required. Location: Based in CAIR's Santa Clara office. CAIR staff are currently working a hybrid schedule, with three days in-person and two days remote. Requirements: Ability to travel throughout the Bay Area (vehicle and driver's license required); authorization to work in the United States; COVID-19 vaccine and booster Reporting Relationships: Reports to Executive Director, Supervises Development Coordinator and Development Specialist Duties and Responsibilities Develop and implement an integrated, organization-wide strategic media and public relations plan Serve as lead point person on media interactions (editors, reporters, producers, and other media professionals) and actively cultivate and manage media relationships Pitch and secure stories to ensure coverage of issues of strategic importance including CAIR-SFBA's programs, special events, public announcements, and other projects Oversee strategic initiatives to target and engage activists, allies, and Muslim community members across all digital channels Edit and review all external communications including press statements/releases, fact sheets, e-mails, e-newsletters, and action alerts Manage the development of CAIR-SFBA and related CAIR-CA publications, including drafting, reviewing, editing, and strategizing distribution Serve as a situation management and crisis communication leader and update organizational crisis management plan s as necessary Prepare team members to speak at various press conferences and events; including developing talking points, speeches, presentations, and other supporting material Collaborate with CAIR-CA and CAIR National Communications staff on press releases, programs, and initiatives Manage CAIR-SFBA's online presence including social media and website Supervise the Communications team including Communications Coordinator in day-to-day tasks and projects Represent and/or speak publicly on behalf of CAIR-SFBA at partner and ally groups or organizations' meetings, events, and activities as needed Participate in CAIR-SFBA's Management Team, including regular meetings, advice to executives, and facilitation of organizational goals Other duties as assigned, dependent on organizational needs and employee skills. All CAIR staff are required to assist in general duties such as answering phones, weekly outreach, and other office tasks. Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree -- in the field of Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations or related field At minimum three years of work experience in a communications or publication relations role At minimum three years of experience managing staff, volunteers, interns, and working through departmental collaboration with non-communications staff Experience working with media as an on-the-record spokesperson Excellent written communication skills, including experience drafting various types of communications for diverse audiences Experience managing and writing copy for social media Experience with public speaking, including with the media as an on-the-record spokesperson Strong interpersonal communication skills to interface with earned media professionals, social media influence r s , and other stakeholders Experience developing and implementing communications strategies Foundational understanding of design and visual elements and how to create simple yet effective graphics Experience with Canva, Adobe photoshop/In-Design/Illustrator, WordPress, Constant Contact High energy, maturity, and leadership with the ability to serve as a unifying force and to position communications discussions at both the strategic and tactical level Demonstrated s elf-starter, with the ability to work independently, and entrepreneurial; enjoys creating and implementing new initiatives A strong commitment to civil rights and C AIR's mission Preferred Qualifications Experience working in Arab, Muslim, Middle Eastern, and/or South Asian communities Experience working in grassroots and non-profit organizations Compensation Compensation in the range of $ 85,479 -$ 92,454 /annually, commensurate with experience 100% employer-paid medical and dental insurance for employees and dependents 3% retirement matching contribution 10 paid holidays, 10 sick days, and 12 vacation days To Apply Please submit (1) a cover letter discussing your interest in the position, (2) your resume, (3) a brief writing sample , and (4) the names and contact information of three references .
