CNC Machine Operator

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS The primary functions include operating multi-axes computer numerical control (CNC) milling or lathe machine to machine surfaces of metallic and nonmetallic work pieces under supervision of a Machinist. QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the Major Responsibilities, under the supervision of a machinist to include the following: Loads material in machine. Starts machine and observes cutting operation. Compares numerical data display with specifications on operations sheet under supervision of a Machinist Responsible for the accuracy and quality of the part. Authorized to stop processes to ensure quality. Assist Machinist in setup and troubleshooting. Responsible for machine turnovers to adjacent shift operators. Works overtime as required Other duties as assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Three to six months related experience and/or training desirable but not necessary. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, routers and inspections procedures MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations preferred but not necessary. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: Demonstrates mechanical aptitude Operates basic measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, surface plate checks and optical comparators desirable PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
