This first-of-its-kind in the nation program, with a simulated community at its core, recreates everyday living experiences while encouraging safe and unlimited learning. Possibilities connects with the local Colorado Springs community to help our participants experience new levels of personal independence and build self-esteem and confidence. JOB SUMMARY: The CNA I, Rehab Care will support the adult day services programs by assisting with medication administration, personal care needs, activities, activities of daily living, food service and all other day-to-day, hands-on services deemed necessary for the smooth operation of the senior day care center. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Client Care: * The CNA will attend to all personal needs of clients to include toileting, dressing, feeding, transferring, lifting, and showering as needed. The incumbent will administer and monitor medications daily and keep appropriate records, assist with activities, meals, and snacks, and communicate with medical and other professionals and caregivers in order to implement necessary changes, confirm treatment or handle emergencies. Client/Program Tracking and Reporting: * The CNA will fill out all necessary daily records regarding arrival and departure and services given per client, document appropriate responsibilities such as medication and Activities of Daily Living (ADL). Relationship Management: * The CNA will communicate in a timely manner and keep the Program Administrator informed of progress, considerations, and pertinent information. The incumbent will deal effectively and calmly with non-routine situations following accepted guidelines and perform other duties as required by the Program Administrator, participating in staff meetings and trainings as required. The incumbent will also maintain good working knowledge of Goodwill of Colorado’s policies and procedures, performing additional related duties as requested by the Program Coordinator. QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education: * Current Certified Nursing Assistant License, High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Experience: * Willing to obtain Medication Administration Qualification, CPR/First Aid training or willingness to obtain training (within 90-days of employment); have previous experience with elderly population. Other: * A valid Colorado driver’s license without a history of violations is required*. * It is preferred that the incumbent have the ability to interact and work cooperatively and effectively with consumers, coworkers, supervisors, family members, and community referral sources. * The incumbent must be able to respond to special requests on short notice, function as an active and contributing team member and complete assigned tasks completely, accurately and in a timely manner. * The incumbent must also communicate effectively, conduct self in a professional manner and maintain a professional appearance that enhances the firm’s reputation. * Overtime may be required with occasional shift changes. *Per contract requirements with vehicle insurance provider: Qualified candidates must be 21 years of age and have no major traffic violations for previous 3 years (for driving/insurance purposes). Must have reliable transportation; must also be able to operate company vehicle. Background Check Requirements **Per the Colorado Revised Statutes 2016; Title 27- Behavioral Health: 27-90-111: Employment of personnel – screening of applicants – disqualifications from employment: (4) Prior to the department's permanent employment of a person in a position that would require that person to have direct contact with any vulnerable person, the executive director or any division head of the department shall make an inquiry to the director of the Colorado bureau of investigation to ascertain whether the person has a criminal history. The person's employment shall be conditional upon a satisfactory criminal background check. Any criminal background check conducted pursuant to this subsection (4) shall include but need not be limited to arrests, conviction records, and the disposition of any criminal charges. The department shall require the person to have his or her fingerprints taken by a local law enforcement agency. The local law enforcement agency shall forward those fingerprints to the Colorado bureau of investigation for the purpose of fingerprint processing utilizing the files and records of the Colorado bureau of investigation and the federal bureau of investigation. The department shall pay for the costs of criminal background checks conducted pursuant to this section out of existing appropriations.
