Clinician for Co-Responder Team- Full-Time Opportunity, Non-Licensed Location: Charlotte County Charlotte Behavioral Health has a unique opportunity for a Full-Time Mental Health Professional: Co-Responder in the Mental Health Unit at the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office. The Co-Responder is a mental health professional who is embedded in a law enforcement setting to respond with Crisis Intervention Trained Deputies to behavioral health related 911 calls. Services are provided to individuals and families of all ages. The primary goal of the co-responder teams is to divert individuals from jail, emergency departments, and inpatient psychiatric treatment units. Position Summary: Respond to Behavioral Health related 911 calls with CCSO deputy and provide on scene behavioral health evaluations / problem identification, crisis interventions, crisis treatment / care plans and make referrals which are consistent with the identified needs in the plan of care and/or by the client. Crisis intervention will include: Use of motivational interviewing skills. De-escalation and rapid response techniques. Supportive counseling. Information and referral. Provide behavioral health consultation to law enforcement and other first responders. Follow up services will include: Phone calls and home visits (accompanied by deputy as needed). Linkage to requested / necessary resources and treatment. Minimum Requirements: Master's degree in counseling or related field with experience working with adults and children with mental health or substance use issues. Experience working with individuals in crisis is preferred. Must be able to work flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Required to work 12 hour shifts. Computer proficiency. Attention to detail. Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to work independently in a fast paced environment in collaboration with other community partners.
