Position Overview Under the general direction of the Manager of Patient Care (or Designate), the incumbent is responsible for: Supervising the daily clinical service delivery and environmental/operational issues in the designated service area whereby the nature and scope of the work performed, the size of the staff population supervised, and the activities occurring and the variety of issues/problems arising are of a complex and variable nature requiring a higher level of decision-making, problem-solving and judgment with considerable latitude to exercise same. Therapeutic Services (Anesthesia based): Initiate ventilator management, responding to code Blue’s in the OR, assist with intubations, inductions, regional blocks, initiate intravenous therapy, provide bronchodilator therapy, backss respiratory status of patient pre and post operatively as requested. Diagnostic Services: Insertion of radial lines, arterial puncture and arterial line sampling for blood gas analysis, venous punctures and IV starts, non-invasive monitoring of end-tidal CO2 and O2 saturation, ECG and pressure monitoring. Technical Services: Ensure the room is anesthesia ready, Tasks included but not limited to are: Prepare and test anesthesia machine prior to daily use, readying of basic anesthesia drugs, ensure the set up and calibrate invasive monitoring.
