Clerical Coordinator I - Mother/Baby - 7 East

Salary Range: $18.8800 - $29.0200 /hour. Actual compensation may vary based on geographic location, work experience, skill level, and education. The Clerical Coordinator maintains clerical organization within the department. Ensures order entry is accurate and timely, including maintenance of all reports, chart forms, and instructions in patient charts. Processes orders for tests, procedures, and special requests accurately during downtime procedures. Ensures accurate and timely completion of forms to expedite patient care. Maintains and updates pertinent patient information on computer systems, EMR, communication venues, and with appropriate departments in a timely manner. Routinely checks and orders supplies, following up to ensure stock is available to meet the needs of the unit and informing appropriate personnel if items are unattainable. Monitors electronic orders, processes orders (faxing, order entry), expedites STAT orders and notifies nurses. Greets visitors. Directs ancillary staff for patient pick up. Is the “Go-To” resource for all physicians, NPs, PAs, and RNs. Completes the Census sheet each night at midnight. Answers the telephone/call light promptly and courteously, relaying messages in a timely manner to the appropriate caregiver. Follows protocol and helps coordinate unit activities during emergency situations. Notifies nurses when physicians are making rounds on the unit. Ensures appropriate follow-up and resolution of the computer equipment used for clinical documentation. Ensures appropriate follow-up and resolution of issues and care. Has a thorough understanding of the challenges of their fellow clinicians in using EMR. Is proficient in navigating EMR. Ensures compliance with the usage of the EMR system. Provides ongoing first-line support for workflow education/review, and trouble-shooting, to fellow clinicians even during non-activation times. Performs other duties as assigned. Education and Experience: High School Graduate or equivalent preferred Ability to use advanced features of EMR and OnBase which are beyond the abilities of “normal” users required Previous hospital experience or documented course work for Clerical Coordinators including knowledge of medical terminology required Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, plus healthcare database systems preferred Recently employed as a Clerical Coordinator. Students enrolled in active healthcare programs such as nursing, physical, occupational, or speech therapy preferred BLS – AHA Basic Life Support Position Reports to Manager of the Department, Director of the Department Hoag is an Equal Opportunity Employer and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any kind.
