Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities: Conduct structural field investigations and analyze failures involving various structural and construction related problems involving residential, commercial and industrial properties Determine of the origin and cause, and extent of structural failures, water intrusions, roof damage, construction defects and building system failures including envelope, roof, wall and glazing Assignments may include foundation settlement investigations, structural assessments, site evaluations, sub-surface investigations and vibration analysis. Analyze failures in buildings and other infrastructure systems by conducting site visits and applying engineering principles and practices in accordance with codes and industry standards Conduct unbiased investigations for various types of clients Responsible for retention and development of client relations Prepare oral and written reports in layman's terms that document causes of failure, extent of loss, and recommended remediation Deliver professional presentations, develop client relationships and promote self to client groups Ability to support conclusions by appropriate expert testimony in legal proceedings Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies Position Requirements: Bachelor's degree required, master's degree preferred Minimum of seven (7) years of post-academic civil / structural engineer experience P. E. (Professional Engineer) registration, as appropriate Must possess strong writing skills Public speaking experience a plus Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 50 lbs.
