Position title: Children’s Ministry Director Employment status: Full-Time Reports to: Senior Pastor Qualifications : Bachelor’s degree, or 5-7 years of experience in a related field Strong interpersonal skills—ability to communicate persuasively and compassionately, both orally and in writing Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word & Excel Highly organized and flexible Exemplary oral & written skills Ability to multi-task Ability to maintain confidentiality Must be called by God into ministry Must agree to uphold and support the missions, vision, and strategy of the Church Must have a philosophy of ministry that is consistent with the Lead Pastor, Board of Directors, Scripture, Mission and Vision of KCC Must be an example of Servant-Leadership to those inside and outside the Church Position Summary The Children’s Ministry Director is responsible for the oversight of all aspects of the children’s ministry, ensuring a safe and effective program. This individual will be tasked with recruiting and training of department staff and volunteers. Responsibilities :Admin/curriculum/calendar/ event planning and coordination: 45%Overseeing, teaching, assisting, and leading ministry with kids: 40%Supervision and coordination of employees and work: 15% Oversee and coordinate all aspects of the children’s ministry Plan and lead weekly children’s church program Ensure the Bible is taught clearly and effectively to best serve and reach each age appropriately Continually evaluate curriculum for all age levels Recruit leaders, teachers, and volunteers for all children’s programs Organize training and planning sessions for children’s leaders, teachers, and volunteers Screen children’s leaders, teachers, and volunteers, according to Church policies and procedures, prior to placing them in ministry Supervise and support all leaders, teachers, and volunteers as they serve in the ministry Observe, evaluate, and affirm leaders, teachers, and volunteers in order to note strengths to encourage and areas where improvement is possible Train leaders, teachers, volunteers in child protection policies and procedures Investigate any complaints regarding children’s ministry staff/volunteers Document and report serious matters to pastor and proper authorities Pray for the children and children’s ministry staff Set and maintain budget for Children’s Ministry Approve all children’s ministries programs, curricula, activities, and disbursement of funds for supplies and projects, keeping within budgeted amount Work with appropriate church staff or volunteers to construct or obtain props or materials needed for the children’s church program Plan special seasonal activities and outreach opportunities for children and families including but not limited to VBS. Communicate with church leaders and the congregation regarding the purpose, value, and procedures of children’s ministry Other duties as needed Supervision: Oversee the work of volunteers, Elementary Coordinators, and the Children’s Administrative Assistant.
