Chief Advancement Officer HV-MC-11 In order to be considered an applicant for this position you must meet the minimum qualifications as stated in this announcement. Minimum Qualifications for Employment Bachelor's Degree with four to six years of demonstrated progressive experience in identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding Major Capital and Annual Campaign gifts, board/committee management skill, preferably in an academic environment, three to five years of progressive supervisory experience, the ability to dynamically articulate the goals and mission of the institution to multiple constituencies; the ability to push initiatives forward to garner results and create and maintain relationships with prospective donors, the ability to successfully manage multiple priorities and function effectively in a complex organizational environment; and the ability to travel and attend and participate in evening and weekend events required. Pertinent Other: Master's degree, Foundation or not-for-profit board experience, and experience with Raiser's Edge/Banner/Academic Works or an equivalent donor management system preferred. Working with Executive Director for External Affairs and Government Relations and the Foundation Board, assist in a community and campus wide capital campaign. Nature and Scope of Duties The Chief Advancement Officer reports to the Executive Director for External Affairs and Government Relations and performs the following duties: Supervises and works with the advancement team to implement a comprehensive program incorporating annual, capital and major gift fund-raising with particular emphasis on identifying, cultivating and developing strategies for closing major and planned gifts. Working with the Executive Director, maintains the administrative and fiduciary policies and procedures and by-laws of the Foundation and ensure compliance with all State and Federal regulations in conjunction with college policies and procedures. Develop and maintains effective working relationships with members of the Foundation Board, College Board of Trustees and program advisory boards. Implements and manages a comprehensive major gifts program that blends outright and deferred giving, focusing on gifts of $50,000 or more. Working with the Major Gifts and Planned Giving Officer and the Director of Operations, identify, researches, analyze, and evaluates prospective major gift donors; and insure the database is utilized optimally, and recordkeeping is compliant. Working with the Major Gifts and Planned Giving Officer and Coordinator of Alumni Giving, translating program priorities into action plans and gift opportunities. Works with high-level volunteers, faculty and executive staff to identify, cultivate and solicit prospects. Prospects and donors will include individuals, foundations and corporations. Prepares cultivation and solicitation strategies and policies/procedures for volunteers, college Faculty/Staff and President and oversees follow-up strategies for each donor prospect and stewardship activities. Working with the Annual Giving and Special Events Coordinator preparation of publications, solicitation, and marketing materials. Working with the Alumni Coordinator responsible for designing and coordinating events and other activities for alumni and donor stewardship and cultivation. Working with Major Gifts and Planned giving Officer, oversees administration of the Heritage Society, which has been established to recognize and honor donors who have provided, or plan to provide, gifts to the Hudson Valley Community College Foundation through bequests, trusts, life insurance or other vehicles to benefit the Foundation’s future. Maintain current knowledge/updates of tax law, finance and current trends in philanthropy. Ensures compliance for the Foundation Scholarship Program, Awards and Funds; maintaining and updating departmental and donor agreements. Acts as liaison to the college’s retiree association, “Keepers of the Flame” ensuring accuracy of retiree database and assisting the group in developing educational, social volunteer opportunities and communicating those events to members. Identifies and cultivates potential volunteer leadership for board development, events and future capital campaigns. Performs other related duties as assigned.
