Position SummaryThis position is primarily responsible for knowing two areas, Cook and D&EGeneral PurposeSee Cook and D&E Job duties.Essential skills and experienceAbility to lift up to 50lbsAbility to climb laddersAbility to work in heightsAbility to work in various weather situationsAbility to organize and manage multiple priorities, time managementAbility to work 12 hour rotating shifts, rotating between days and nightsAbility to work as a strong team playerAbility to commitment to company valuesAbility to work mandatory overtimeNonessential skills and experienceComputer skillsExperience in lab and chemistry not required but helpfulHigh School DiplomaExperience in manufacturing environmentTroubleshooting abilitiesReporting to this position No direct reportsProcess CookFollow all SOP'sPerform duties in a safe manner and be aware of situations requiring PPE and special safety precautions.o Bases-caustic, ammonia, ureao Acids-sulfuric, sulfamic, and phosphorico High pressures and/or high temperatureso Grabbing of hot samples and CIP sampleso Use of hot flush water and steamo Chemical barrel washo Process equipment-hammer mill screens, couplers, mixers, etc.o Chemical spill containment-acid, caustic, enzymeo Additional areas as identified by safetyRecords are to be kept on grind, cook, fermentation and yeast propagation.Clean necessary areas (refer to cleaning schedule)Alternate Dutieso Assist with unloading manufacturing supplieso Assist with the unloading of denaturant truckso Assist with loading ethanol trucksCross reference with previous shift to review records and current status prior to shift changeCIP/Sulfamic acid tanks should be adequate for further use at the end of your shiftClean fermenters as emptiedCIP propagatorsVisually inspect fermenters prior to CIP washKeep current on the status of all operating equipment in cook areao Water to pump sealso Oil in pump glasseso Vibration of pumps or motorso Uniformity of ground graino Enzyme pumpso Condition of CIP and acid wash (level, temp, ph & strength)o Listen for unusual noiseso Part of chemical inventoryo Check conveyors for slop/noiseKnow which grain bin is being filled and emptiedCheck enzyme pump once per shift. Enzyme rates are to be checked more often if issues arise in that area. Change rates when grain rates change.Other duties not listed herein, but which need to be accomplished to maintain safe and timely day-to-day operations within the plantProcess D& EResponsible for in process test and inspection testing and documenting results on log sheet for distillation, evaporation, and dryingSpot checksReport discrepanciesBe safe and responsibleReport any safety problemsKeep informed on hazardous conditions of any kindo Bases-caustic, ammoniao Acids-sulfuric and sulfamico High pressure and/or temperatures (I.E. steam, condensate, distillate, syrup, thin stillage)Clean necessary areasLearn where needed parts are (fuses, couplings, bolts, and fittings)Be aware of electrical starters in the motor control centerComplete CIP's as requiredMandatory training, including CPRSome rolling stock operationsOther duties not listed herein, but which need to be accomplished to maintain safe and timely day-to-day operations within the plantPhysical Demands and work environmentThe physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Some areas have been designated areas to use hearing protection. Hard hat and safety glasses are required in designated areas.
