The Charge Master Analyst supports compliance efforts by adhering to regulatory, organizational, and departmental guidelines related to charging for services. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Responsible for reviewing compliance regulations and coding requirements and incorporating these changes into the Chargemaster. Coordinates with clinical departments and internal stakeholders on new procedures being performed to assure the charge codes are set up appropriately and timely and the staff responsible for entering charges is educated on their use. Works with clinical departments, IT and internal stakeholders to research, design and implement charge code/structure updates and improvements. Participates in ongoing coordination and resolution of revenue issues. Develops, implements, and educates clinical departments and internal stakeholders on charge capture initiatives and policies which optimize efficient charge capture, compliant revenue generation and charge reconciliation processes along service lines. Monitors daily charge capture, revenue reconciliation for compliant charge capture detail and documentation integrity. Identifies deficiencies in processes, material trends and missed opportunities to collect revenue. Takes appropriate action to mitigate. Educates leadership, clinical departments and the revenue cycle team on compliance and coding regulations. Performs other duties as assigned. EDUCATION High school graduate or equivalent Additional college training (preferred) REQUIREMENTS Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Health Information Management, or other healthcare related field is required. Applicable clinical or professional certifications and licenses such as RN, LPN, RHIA, RHIT, and/or CCS highly desirable. Minimum of 5 years related work experience in an acute care hospital. Clinical, Nursing or Health Information Management experience preferred. Comprehensive knowledge of hospital revenue cycle operations, hospital charge masters, as well as hospital department charge capture and charge reconciliation. Knowledge of correct coding principles of CPT/HCPCS, ICD and modifier selection, as well as revenue codes. Comprehensive understanding of Federal, State, and Local coding guidelines and payment methodologies. Must possess excellent analytical, organizational, verbal and written communication skills and be very detail oriented. Demonstrated communication skills and an ability to work independently and deal effectively with various types of personnel. Must be proficient in MS Office, particularly Excel and Word, Comprehensive understanding of auditing concepts preferred.
