This role functions in both roles, about 70% of the role does entail the HUC responsiblities. HUC responsitibilties entail: printing, preparing and making charts for all surgical cases, working with the pre-anesthesia clinic (PEC) to prepare charts for their appointments, contacting doctor's offices and surgeon's offices to obtain history and physicals, scanning and uploading documents into patient charts, working with leaders to order office supplies and forms. Will also perform other patient care related duties as needed.Must be registered with the State of Wisconsin Registry for Nursing Assistants (must be state and federally certified). Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers through American Heart or American Red Cross is required.Basic reading writing and arithmetic skills achieved through completion of high school or equivalent.Knowledge of basic medical terminology to understand ordering procedures for various patient tests, treatments and medications.Previous clerical and customer service experience required.Completion of a health unit coordinator program or other healthcare office experience preferred.Possess effective interpersonal and communication skills necessary to interact courteously and tactfully with patients, parents/families and members of the health care team.Possess rudimentary assessment and analytical skills in order to perform basic patient observations.Previous basic computer and keyboarding experience and skills preferred.Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time and walk when assisting with errands, to carry supplies and move equipment on wheels, and to transport patients in wheelchairs and cribs.Physical ability to lift, ambulate and position patients weighing up to 50 pounds.Hours: 5:30am-2pm Monday through Friday one week and 5:30am-2pm Monday through Thursday the other week.Children's Wisconsin is an equal opportunity / affirmative action employer.
