Orthopedic Center of Illinois, voted the Best Orthopedic Care for the past Ten years, is seeking highly organized and detailed oriented Medical Assistants to join our amazing team of healthcare professionals. Our team provides high quality musculoskeletal care to all our patients. As a medical assistant in our clinic you will have the opportunity to learn and grow your knowledge and expertise in orthopedics. All care is provided under the supervision of the physician and/or mid-level provider. Prior work experience with Allscripts EHR, scribing, prior authorization and an outpatient office setting is highly desirable but not required. Job Duties Organize all written medical information for physician/nurses review and place in medical record. Assist in answering phones and prioritize call for physician, nurse and receptionist. Schedule appointments effectively and efficiently according to patient needs. Open mail and distribute to appropriate person, file miscellaneous office information, organize all written communication. Document information in medical record. Take vital signs and document results. Perform office procedures such as suture removal, staple removal or removal of casts under the direction of a N.P, P.A. or physician. Order and schedule diagnostic tests, exams and procedures according to physician's order. Perform pre-certifications/referrals for insurance companies as necessary. Provide patient/family education and reinforce all patient teaching under N.P., P.A. or physician direction. Call in prescriptions to pharmacy, order durable medical equipment (DME), and provide patient instructions and document. Perform other job duties as assigned. Must be a registered or certified Medical Assistant through one of the following: American Med Techs (AMT), American Assoc of Med Assts (AAMA) Natl Ctr for Competency Testing (NCCT), or Natl Health Career Assoc (NHA).Two years minimum office experience and Allscripts experience preferred.
