Who we are The Clyde Companies is looking for a Central Purchasing Manager with broad industry experience in heavy civil construction and with its associated materials, who wants to make an impact and join the Clyde family! We have been around for almost 100 years. Starting off as WW Clyde, the small family run business has now turned into nine separate subsidiaries collaborating on thousands of projects each year. The enterprise is comprised of companies that span from administrative services to insurance and from building materials to construction. Clyde Companies, Inc. is the administrative services group that supports the other eight subsidiaries. The position The Central Purchasing Manager is responsible for the process of sourcing and negotiating pricing for essential materials for the business' operation s- focusing mainly on construction materials . This includes researching raw materials suppliers, comparing costs, and negotiating pricing and purchase agreements . Through coordination with business leaders across all s ubsidiaries, the Central Purchasing Manager will work to achieve economies of scale in purchasing across the e nterprise. Other key activities for the Central Purchasing Manager: Design, plan, and implemen t effective sourcing and purchasing strategies , Creat e supply chain management strategies that increase efficiency and speed, Maintain supplier database, purchase records, and related documentation, Utilize data to analyze purchase and supply chain efficiency, Track , measure , and analyze company expenditures on materials, and Determine and track key performance indicators for purchasing and supply chain activities . What makes you successful A successful Central Purchasing Manager needs to have (required) : A bachelor's degree in construction management, business, or related field, Broad industry experience in heavy civil construction and associated materials including cement powder, liquid asphalt, pipe materials, aggregates, etc. , Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to develop and foster relationships with suppliers to achieve best value pricing, Outstanding negotiation skills , A strong analytical mindset and the ability to solve problems , and The ability to travel to different facilities and sites and navigate uneven terrain and regular exposure to the elements .
