Casting Manager Job Location US-NC-Pine Hall ID 2023-2401 # of Openings 1 Posted Date 1 month ago(11/7/2023 12:05 PM) Overview Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Casting Manager is responsible for all aspects of Direct Cast and Raw Material Receiving personnel including knowledge of Melting, Casting and Receiving chemistries. Providing a safe and efficient working environment. Maintains effective quality and maintenance procedures to ensure the manufacturing of copper tubes. Responsibilities Core Accountabilities for Casting Manager:Ensures adherence to/compliance with company policies, rules and regulations relating to safety/health, performance standards, procedures, processes and training requirementsLeads and directs all Direct Cast operations to meet or exceed performance goals of the company through appropriate management and delegation to Supervisors and hourly personnel.Actively seeks ways to reduce cost in the department and improve working practices. Reports on production activities and performance with detailed analysis. Provide periodic updates and reports as requested by managementOversees all aspects of the melting and casting furnaces including planning of relines of furnaces and advising on furnace life for scheduling outages. Lines up and work with outside contractors and production personnel to ensure timelines are met on relines. Works together with purchasing to ensure all parts and refractory is available for each reline.Reviews and analyzes production, quality, production shortfalls and operating concerns for remediation and implementation of appropriate corrective actions. Works together with maintenance/engineering to ensure upkeep of equipment and improvements Work together with supply chain/Raw material purchasing personnel to ensure proper raw material inventory on site and that it meets internal specifications.Assists HR to recruit and select department personnel and oversees onboarding/training of new hires for dept.Conducts performance appraisals on direct reports. Monitors work quality providing counseling for improving performance. LeadershipLeads 4 casting supervisors and all Direct Cast and Raw Material processing hourly personnel Qualifications Competencies and Qualifications of Casting ManagerBS degree, preferably in metallurgy or material science6 years foundry experience working with Electric Channel furnaces3-5 years supervisory experienceExcellent communications skills, both verbally and in writingAbility to effectively plan, organize and prioritize projects Strong team player with proven leadership and motivational abilitiesAbility to work independently with minimal supervision and guidanceStrong analytical and problem solving skillsThorough knowledge of Electric Channel furnacesKnowledge of Lean manufacturing principals
