Global Village Academy is an innovative charter school. Students learn core content through language immersion in their choice of Spanish, Mandarin, or Russian (depending on the school). GVA is truly a "global village." Our immersion teachers come from all over the world, each bringing their unique culture and language into the classroom. United by a common core, students are challenged to become world class thinkers, capable of engaging ideas using multiple languages and cross-cultural perspectives, through internationally bench-marked curriculum spanning each language village. Essential Duties: Recess supervision duties. Aide students in solving conflict on the playground. Make sure students are behaving in a safe and appropriate manner during outside play. Help with safety awareness and injury prevention. Supervises students' arrival to cafeteria and recess. Supervises student line while students wait to get lunch. Supervises students while they eat lunch, helps students when called upon. Helps keep students focus on eating and good behavior/manners in a safe environment. Washes tables and wipes ups spills. Works with other lunch assistants. Supervises students' departure from the lunch room. Helps with clean up in between each lunch. Helps with trash removal. Some teacher assistant tasks. Assist with morning and afternoon arrival and dismissal (traffic duty). Performs other related duties as assigned. This job is from 7:30am-4pm to begin immediately. Experience: Previous experience working with children preferred. Previous experience supervising recess helpful. Other background demonstrating application of the following knowledge, skills and abilities: Advanced oral and written communication, public relations, conflict resolution, multitasking, problem solving, facilitation, decision making, computer and organizational skills. Ability to work with students with various backgrounds and abilities. Advanced skill in dealing with students and staff with diverse needs at various levels. Ability to be flexible and patient and deescalate conflict. English language skills required. Fluency in second language may be preferred depending on building assignment. RELOCATION IS NOT PROVIDED FOR THIS POSITION.
