Location:Lafayette, IN Shift: 645pm-7am; 2-2-3 Starting Pay Rate:$22.71Job DescriptionJOB OVERVIEW: The Cabler 1 Operator is a medium skilled role that is responsible for safe and efficient operations of the machine, including loading/unloading reels, making hook splices, reading and interpreting production orders, selecting, identifying and installing tooling to meet production order specifications, adjusting lay length and binder tightness, loading binder, loading fillers and operating longitudinal taping head. For example, some machines that would be ran are: Drum Twister (Heflin and SCUPP), Cabling and Shielding Machines, Bunchers or Twisters (VRP)GENERAL REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or equivalent Must read, write, and speak English; Bilingual in Spanish is a plus Must be able to stand and lift heavy loads for long periods of timePRIMARY JOB TASKS: Must be able to work under supervision and maintain ongoing communication with the supervisor and peers through verbal instruction and reports. Responsible for completing production orders to customer specifications or other requirements, thereby producing a quality product that can be delivered to the customer on time. Operator is responsible for machine inspections. Put scrap into the designated scrap bins. Any other job duties as assigned. CROSS TRAINING: Will be required to cross-train onequipment within your identified workgroup at your facility Once trained in more complex jobs, may be required tofill the position in the event of absence or vacancy Will be required to rotate on a set frequency within your workgroup to maintain skill proficiencyQUALITY: Use the company's ISO Quality System documentation to help guide all daily quality activities. Responsible for maintaining general housekeeping, using shop floor correctly, and complying with legislative regulations. Quality checks on the products the operator is running. Quality inspection of products compared to production order. Do not release products until all quality checks have been passed Immediately report quality issues to the supervisor or quality managerSAFETY: Working safely is a condition of employment. Responsible to observe Southwire safety rules and maintain good housekeeping Follow all safety procedures and rules Properly wear all required PPE Review and know all Job Hazard Analyses for proper job sequence and hazards associated with the jobs assigned to do Review and know all Safety Data Sheets for the jobs assigned to do Maintain all work areas to 5S standards Perform pre-operation safety inspection and hazard analysis Follow all company environmental rules/procedures and handle all materials in a manner designed to minimize environmental impact. PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS: Physical activity associated with daily performance of this job include: balance, climbing, fingering, grasping, hearing, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motions, standing, stooping, walking and sitting. Must be able to work in hot and cold environments normally found in a prefabricated building without climate-control.
