Reporting to the Supervisor, SCM, the Buyer is responsible for providing procurement support including contract development, analysis, and execution critical to production. The Buyer collaborates closely with internal stakeholders, including maintenance planners and schedulers, inventory control, and other buyers to support the administration of procurement duties with an emphasis on cost effective supply of goods and services while reducing Teck’s exposure to external supply chain risk. To be successful, we are looking for someone with excellent negotiating, problem solving, and decision-making abilities, who is self-motivated and can work with minimal direction. This person has strong communication and interpersonal skills and can build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external partners. The ability to multi-task and prioritize competing demands in a fast-paced environment with strong organizational abilities is vital. In this role, you will have the exciting opportunity to implement procedural improvements to streamline business practices and be instrumental in the successful execution of contracts. You will also interact with both operations and support and contract groups throughout our company, gaining knowledge of our mining business.
