ABOUT VISIT GALVESTON AND THE PARK BOARD OF TRUSTEES In 1963 the citizens of Galveston voted to create a specialized unit of government called the Park Board of Trustees of the City of Galveston. The organization is responsible for overseeing Galveston's tourism efforts, Galveston Island Beach Patrol (GIBP), and Coastal Zone Management (CZM). The Park Board is funded primarily through Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT) and beach user fees for the six parks that they manage. Tourism pays for tourism as no sales tax or property tax is collected by the Pak Board. The nine-member board is comprised of volunteer residents with diverse business backgrounds. Each is required to serve at least two years and must also serve on one of the Park Board's advisory committees.We are on a mission to promote and support tourism on Galveston Island in order to foster an environment that establishes a great place to live, work, and visit. A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A BUDGET AND PROCUREMENT ANALYST As a Budget and Procurement Analyst, you collaborate with the Chief Tourism Officer and department directors in Visit Galveston annual operating budget planning, projections, and tracking throughout the year. Coordinates Request for Proposal process for department projects/purchases, obtains competitive quotes for purchases, competes e-requisitions, processes contracts and purchase orders, and tracks invoices and payments.With our mission in mind, you track important financial data and prepare reports for our leadership on any information that could impact department objectives or resources. You are a crucial link in helping us make informed strategic decisions. You also ensure that our financial practices remain in compliance with all relevant regulations. QUALIFICATIONS FOR A BUDGET AND PROCUREMENT ANALYST Bachelor's degree in business administration, or related field, or the equivalent of five years relevant experience in accounting, budget planning, and procurement Proficient in MS Office, financial software, and databases, including reporting Are you able to translate detailed financial data into actionable information? Can you work with discretion and confidentiality? Are you an excellent communicator, both verbally and in writing? If yes, you might just be perfect for this financial position!
