Description:
The City of Tomball is accepting applications for the position of Budget Analyst in the Finance department. This person is r esponsible for the development, implementation, and monitoring of the City's annual operating budget and Capital Improvement Program. This includes providing analytical data to assist Management in decision-making and monitoring monthly financial activity. Essential Job Functions: Prepares the City's annual budget and multi-year financial forecast. Coordinates annual budget process, including scheduling meetings with departments and City Management Provides guidance and assists departments with budget preparation. Prepares the proposed and adopted annual budget documents. Ensures adopted budget document meets the GFOA Distinguished Budget Presentation Award criteria. Assists with developing the Capital Improvement Program Prepares monthly budget vs. actual reports and researches discrepancies. Meets with departments quarterly to review budget vs. actuals. Monitors revenue and expense activity at the fund and department level. Assists with preparing budget amendments and transfers. Serves as the administrator of the budget software. Assists with the annual financial audit as needed. Implements process improvements to create efficiencies. Participates in a variety of special projects. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: High school diploma or GED equivalent and four (4) years of experience in finance and budgeting OR Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or closely related field preferred.
