Job Description: The Budget Analyst works directly with the Vice Provost and the Director of Institutional Planning and Budget to help coordinate financial planning and oversee the development and management of operating budgets for all departments and units. The Budget Analyst supports the Vice Provost and the Director of Institutional Planning and Budget in developing budget reports and studies, in serving as a liaison between Academic Affairs and the Office of Financial and Administrative Services, in providing training and support for budget managers, and in completing other budget and financial special projects. Location: Glenside Responsibilities : Assist the Vice Provost and the Director of Institutional Planning and Budget in a range of recurring and one-time projects related to all areas of the University's budgets and financial activities. Support the Vice Provost and the Director of Institutional Planning and Budget in the development of annual operating and capital budgets. Develop and run regular revenue and expense reports. Monitor expenditures and prepare spending projections, typically on a quarterly basis. Assist in the development of presentations designed to educate and inform administrators, faculty, and staff about Academic Affairs' and the University's budgets and finances. Develop a thorough understanding of the university's financial policies and procedures and assist in the broad dissemination of that knowledge. Provide training and support for department/unit-level budget managers on budgets, budget processes, and use of financial management software. Foster effective and collaborative relationships with all units in Academic Affairs and the other VP units. Undertake special projects designed to improve the operational effectiveness and/or strategic focus of financial activities. Perform other projects as assigned by the Vice Provost and the Director of Institutional Planning and Budget. Qualifications : Excellent organization, strong detail orientation and follow-through, and demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects on different timeframes. Advanced proficiency in Excel, including lookups, index match, advanced conditional formatting, pivot tables and reporting, macros and VBA, and data simulations. Strong quantitative and analytical skills and significant experience in budgets. A curiosity and commitment to the University and the programs and people (students, faculty, and staff) those budgets support. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and to build and sustain strong relationships with all levels of administrators, faculty, and staff. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, written, and presentation skills. Capable and willing to perform work at all levels, ranging from higher-level analysis to ensuring the accuracy of granular budget data. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace, and a preference for experience with Great Plains, Oracle Cloud ERP and iSolved. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. Supervision: Received: Vice Provost and the Director of Institutional Planning and Budget Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree and 5+ years of experience related to the statement of duties and responsibilities are required. (An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.) Finance, economics, accounting, or business administration degrees preferred, although open to considering a variety of formal programs of study if experience and skill qualifications are met. Work experience in higher education or within the nonprofit sector is preferred.
