POSITION SUMMARY This is a 20-hour-a-week position located in Randolph County, IL. The position will serve clients residing in Clinton, Madison, Monroe, Randolph, and St. Clair Counties. The Bilingual Family First Worker provides individualized case management, financial coaching, and emergency financial assistance to help Latino individuals and families achieve self-sufficiency and greater financial security. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Delivers developmental activities, education, and resources as needed in accordance with the program delivery plan and consistent with CARE Principles. Works with the Bilingual Community Programs Supervisor to identify appropriate activities and resources to support Spanish-speaking families. Utilizes a wraparound case management model focused on helping clients achieve housing and educational stability. Conducts outreach to Spanish-speaking families for community resources and support. Connects with Spanish-speaking families to identify needed services. Assists families and individuals to access needed financial support and education; prevents evictions through administration of emergency hardship funds; provides interpretation and translation; assists families to develop resources for transportation; assists families in stabilizing their situation. Receives and responds to requests for services and assistance made by Latino families, individuals, and/or service providers on behalf of Latinos. Assesses the request for service and determines if it is within the mission and capacity of Puentes; discusses alternatives with the family to enlist the family in developing and carrying out a plan of action Remains knowledgeable about public benefits, community resources, and their respective eligibility; assists and advocates on behalf of clients to assure that they receive services and benefits that they are eligible for and need. Maintains written records of each pre/post-session assessment and program session as directed by the Bilingual Community Programs Supervisor. Meets goals as stated in the grant/ program plan. Attends all training as identified by the agency and/or funder. Attends staffing and meetings as needed. Maintains records and statistics as required by the agency and other funding sources and makes suggestions for revision and review. Performs other administrative tasks as assigned. Participates and supports additional community events as an organization representative and upholds the mission and values of the organization. Must become certified in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention and be capable of performing crisis prevention and de-escalation techniques with fidelity to the TCI model. Other duties as assigned QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS The Bilingual Family First Worker functions as a role model for youth and their families and is expected to implement the CARE practice model and TCI behavior intervention techniques with fidelity and exhibit positive standards of conduct. The Bilingual Family First Worker will be punctual, responsible, and supportive of the program; attend the required amount of training modules as required by the agency and grant funder; and attend meetings as required. Responsible for program implementation and fulfilling the grant expectations. Other duties as assigned. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE A High School diploma or GED is required; Bachelor's Degree preferred. Must be bilingual and have experience working with the Latino population. Preference will be given to individuals who have worked directly with Latino families for 2+ years. Must be at least 21 years of age Must possess and retain a valid driver's license Must possess and retain the proof of auto insurance. Strong organizational and time management skills. Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills. The personal characteristics and experiential background enable the Bilingual Liaison to provide appropriate care for clients, develop positive, therapeutic relationships with them, guide them in their development, and actively engage the Latino Community. Ability to receive a DCFS/CANTS Clearance CARE & TCI One of the essential job functions of any position within the agency is to align your performance with our overarching philosophy of CARE. All decisions, actions, communication, and performance should align with the six CARE principles (Developmentally Focused, Family Involved, Relationship-Based, Ecologically Oriented, Competence Centered, and Trauma-Informed). Not only must you complete the CARE training with satisfactory participation, but you must then put that training into practice in your everyday work. Every employee must also pass TCI training with a satisfactory grade in written and/or physical testing. All employees must remain current on refresher training that is provided monthly at all locations. You will be tested every six months on the physical portion, if applicable to your position. You will be tested annually on the written portion, regardless of your position. If you are not current on your TCI refresher training every six months, you will be required to retake the full course. If you do not pass either test, you may be required to retake the full course.
