Mileage Reimbursement, Phone Allowance, Student Loan Repayment Assistance, CEU's and ongoing trainings/education Position Title: Clinician/Therapist for Unaccompanied Minors - JOR Reporting Relationship: Lead Therapist Position Summary The Therapist for NYAP's La Jornada (The Journey) Program focusing on Transitional Foster works to make a meaningful difference in the lives of the minors who have fled their country of origin and arrived in the U.S. without a parent or legal guardian. The Clinician works closely with minors, foster families, sponsor families, and community partners, providing counseling or therapy, advocacy, and support toward the ultimate goal of living safely and successfully in the community. RESPONSIBILITIES The Therapist will perform duties including, but not limited to: Performing all work in a manner consistent with the National Youth Advocate Program's mission, values, and philosophies. Responsible for following the assigned intake, placement, and discharge procedures including conducting/coordinating/reviewing/updating assigned assessments, service plans, screenings, forms, and packets and collecting and uploading assigned documents into NYAP's electronic health record (EHR) system and the government's database (UCP) within the mandatory timeframe. Writing required and additional progress notes for assigned responsibilities, and uploading progress notes and accompanying documents to NYAP's electronic health record (EHR) system and the government's database (UCP) within the mandatory timeframe. Performing and periodically reviewing minors' risk assessments, behavior management assessments, safety/crisis plans, individual service plans, logs and other assessments and plans for the youth and uploading documents and progress notes to the EHR and UCP within required timeframe. Reviewing all documents, assessments, and plans with foster parents and sponsor families and ensure all documents, assessments, plans, and related progress notes are uploaded to the EHR and UCP within required timeframe. Providing appropriate individual, group, and family mental health services, transportation, and other professional services, meeting or exceeding established outcomes thresholds on behalf of persons served. Traveling to foster family and sponsor homes and other community based organizations to provide in-home services to, and on behalf of, minors and families in compliance with organizational, contract, and regulatory requirements. Coordinating and monitoring services for the minors and family in the community, including but not limited to, medical, educational, psychological, and social services. Screening for human trafficking concerns, and providing crisis intervention services. Assisting in placement efforts with the minors' sponsor or other permanent living arrangement consistent with the minors' case plans. Performing other duties as requested. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Master's degree in social work, or comparable behavioral science field, from an accredited institution. Five (5) years of direct clinical work experience. Direct service with youth and families strongly preferred. Bilingual English/Spanish fluency required. A valid professional license as required and acceptable by state or contract regulations. Must have a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, automotive insurance, and a good driving record. Minimum automobile insurance coverage of $100,000/$300,000 bodily injury liability. Must be able to organize, navigate, and physically escort youth to various travel destinations possibly including airlines, trains, and buses. Travel includes out-of-state trips up to 25%-30% to unify youth with families. A willingness to work flexible and non-traditional hours in the service of foster caregivers, families of origin, and persons served. Capacity to remain objective and professional in all areas of job function.
