Pathway Caring for Children is currently celebrating 50-years of offering services to children and families. We offer a flexible, supportive, rewarding opportunity in this position with the goal of providing short-term care that allows parents/guardians of children with a behavioral health diagnosis to take a break from the daily routine and stress of caregiving. Pathway looks for individuals who have a passion for working with children and adolescents who may have emotional or behavioral challenges. Staff are expected to demonstrate an understanding and consideration for the cultural differences among the children and families serviced by Pathway Caring for Children, while approaching individuals with cultural humility. BH Respite Specialist would work a part-time schedule (with possibility of moving to full time if desired) that meets both the Specialist's and the families scheduling needs. One on one interaction with child/adolescent will usually occur after school and/or on weekends and can be located in various places as determined by the Specialist and the child's needs such as child's home, office, community locations. Training and support will be provided to the Specialist during orientation and throughout their employment. Our work environment includes: Training & Growth opportunities Flexible & Safe work environment Relaxed & Collaborative atmosphere Supportive & Empowering supervision Primary responsibilities include: Arrange recreation and leisure activities that includ es assistance to the child/adolescent in developing and/or maintaining social and familial relationships. Provide education, support, and opportunities to practice skills based on the unique needs of each child or adolescent : social skills, problem solving, conflict resolution, emotions/behavior management, coping skills. Assist the child/adolescent in their ability to participate in community activities independently or with natural supports. Attend individual/group supervision and required meetings/trainings Maintain accurate records of service delivery and timely completion of paperwork. Applicants must be at least 21 years of age with a high school diploma or GED, experience working with children and adolescents, preferably with emotional/behavioral challenges. Applicants also must be able to pass a background check, possess a valid driver's license, a safe driving record, meet the auto insurance coverage requirements, and a car that is safely maintained and have the willingness to travel to locations served by Pathway.
