Description:
Environmental Research Group (ERG) is seeking a seasonal biologist to join our Natural Resources Team for bat summer survey work. This position will travel to project locations for fieldwork throughout the United States, with work centered in Maryland. The ideal candidate will be local to the Baltimore area and have a bachelor's degree plus 1-3 years of bat experience. The selected bat technician would be expected to support and lead field surveys including, but not limited to habitat assessments for bat species, acoustic monitoring, and mist netting. Work would require physical exertion such as walking or climbing over wet, rough, uneven, and/or rocky surfaces; bending, crouching, stooping, or reaching to observe, collect and/or record field data. May be required to hike several miles in a day. In addition to fieldwork, the bat technician may support development of survey reports in addition to other project deliverables such as GIS mapping. The selected biologist would: Perform field tasks within scope, budget, and schedule expectations. Demonstrate successful team relationship and task management skills. Communicate effectively and work well with teammates. Write clear and informative field notes; present numerical data effectively when needed; able to read and interpret written and spreadsheet data. Tactfully approach others; react well under pressure; treat others with respect and consideration regardless of their status or position; accept responsibility for own actions; follow through on commitments. Display original thinking and creativity when appropriate; meet challenges with resourcefulness; generate suggestions for improving work; develop innovative approaches and ideas.
