The City of Johnson City, Tennessee is currently accepting online applications for a Service Technician with the Solid Waste division of Public Works. Job duties of this class involve repair and maintenance work on refuse collection trucks and other vehicles/equipment; performs electrical and hydraulic work on refuse equipment; performs all shop welding projects; does related tasks as required. Work assignments are received either in writing or verbally; requires diagnosing mechanical failure and making necessary repairs. Work is subject to review while in progress and upon completion. Job duties require proficiency in equipment repair and welding fabrication. Requirements or Education & Experience: completion of high school or GED and considerable knowledge/experience in repairs of refuse collection trucks and equipment. The Automotive Technician must be an experienced welder; be highly skilled in welding fabrication; have general knowledge in repairs of heavy equipment, and possess a Commercial Driver's License.
