Term of App't: 6 hours per day, until March 29, 2024 Start date: Immediately Reporting to: Dean of Trades & Apprenticeships Salary/Benefits: $46.44 - $55.11 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications as per the BCGEU Faculty Collective Agreement. Temporary employees receive an additional 2% in lieu of benefits, 6% vacation and 4.2% statutory holiday pay included with each pay. Description: The successful candidate will be responsible for instruction of the apprenticeship Level 1 of the Automotive Service Technicians Program. The students will learn how to examine, test, and repair the parts and systems on cars and light trucks. Automotive Service Technician is a nationally designated trade under the Inter-provincial Red Seal program. They often use computerized diagnostic equipment to test, adjust and repair key vehicle components such as engines, steering systems, braking systems, drive trains, vehicle suspensions and electrical systems. The work of an Automotive Service Technician also involves reassembling and testing repaired items against manufacturers' standards, as well as performing preventative maintenance such as wheel alignments, oil changes and tune-ups. Automotive Service Technicians also advise customers on the work performed, general vehicle conditions and future repair requirements. Qualifications: The successful candidate must hold an Inter Provincial Red Seal Automotive Certification. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to work and contribute positively to the College environment are essential. Candidates should be familiar with the MS Office suite (excel, word and outlook). A supportive attitude to students and student success is expected. Previous teaching experience is preferred.
