Grote Automotive, located in Rockford, IL, is seeking an exceptional individual to fill the role of Service Director. This position entails overseeing the operations of our Warranty and Reconditioning Department across our five locations in Indiana and Illinois. As the direct report of the Service Manager, Parts Manager, and the entire service operation, the Service Director plays a crucial role in our organization. While our focus is on car reconditioning and post-sale responsibilities, we do not offer customer-paid service work. With the recent addition of a new store, our current monthly volume stands at 150 cars, but we anticipate this number to rise to 250. At Grote Automotive, we offer a comprehensive package of perks and our salary-based compensation plan is open to negotiation. For the right candidate, we may also consider relocation packages. Responsibilities:• Investigate potential solutions to problems to identify the best course of action• Monitor production capacity levels and help with production planning• Accurately assess issues, both through reports and direct observations of the shop floor• Supplying direction and support to the reconditioning team in order to reach performance goals• Encourage and motivate the team to reach quality, production, and cost objectives• Lead and participate in improvement projects• Train and guide associates in problem-solving strategies Qualifications:• Experience in building and managing high-performance teams• Strong drive for continuous improvement• Comfortable with managing complex processes• Hands-on mentality, someone who is not afraid to jump in at any stage of a process when needed• Proven ability to obtain project deliverables and company metrics• Valid in-state driver’s license• Must be able to work with minimal supervision• Must be able to work accurately and efficiently, and have strong organizational skills• Must have the ability to remain flexible in work assignments and schedules, and have the ability to multitask when necessary• Must have good written and oral communication and strong computer skills• Strong attention to detail• Sense of urgency• Typing – the ability to type efficiently• Mathematics – using mathematics to solve problems• Accounting - knowledge of basic accounting principles• Positive "can do" attitude• Full oversight of all service and parts operations• Lead your team to win in every position• Reconditioning speed to the front line. Having a goal and reaching it weekly• Continued research on technology to further improve efficiency and effectiveness• Ensure staffing levels are maintained and that there is an adequate backup for each position Compensation: $90,000 - $130,000 yearly About Company: Who is Grote Automotive? Fred Grote has been in the car business for over 25 years. He opened his 1st store in Fort Wayne, IN in 2008. Growing from 25 cars a month to 200 he opened a 2nd store in Warsaw, IN. After Great success there his 3rd store came to Rockford, IL. The 4th and 5th stores have just arrived in IN in 2022 as well. We plan to open 1 more in 2024. We opened here in Rockford in December 2020 and have been growing FAST. We specialize in solving transportation problems that most dealerships can't.
