FUNCTIONAL ROLE An Automotive manages the day-to-day activities of the vehicles & equipment maintenance or repairs and delivery while achieving cost, schedule, quality and safety goals set by Purchasing Manager. Assists with the Equipment, Tools, and Materials coordination and delivery as a part of this position. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Assures the purchase of all parts, supplies, etc. at the most economical price. Assures timely and accurate submittal of all paperwork to office. Assures the accountability of all warranty claims for parts or service for repairs. Determines work to be completed through discussion with staff or customers. Writes up Repair Order. Performs work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with Interstate Mechanical standards. Diagnoses cause of any malfunction and performs repair. Communicates with purchasing personnel or department to obtain needed parts. Examines equipment to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended. Communicates with staff or customer immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time Documents all work performed and recommended on the repair order. Tests equipment for proper operation when required. Participates in training programs when requested by management. Keeps abreast of technical changes to equipment components. Reports machinery defects or malfunctions to Purchasing Manager. Keeps shop area neat and clean. Maintains and is accountable for all tools and manuals. Returns them to the proper place and in the same condition as they were received. Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner. Reports any safety issues immediately to management. Use Purchase Orders for all material & tool purchases. This may require issuing new purchase orders and notifying vendors of purchase order prior to shipment. Monitor vehicles & equipment by ensuring there is proper identification on the item and repairing as needed, and maintaining as needed in an efficient manner with minimal interruption to job/project scheduled demand Perform daily inspections on associated vehicles including the driver's trucks as well as to ensure proper documentation for maintenance records, log books, repairs, or other vehicle related documents. Assist in making deliveries of tools and materials as necessary. Responsible for normal maintenance items such as oil changes. Assists with preparing trucks the day before for deliveries the next day including equipment loads. Ensures safekeeping of all tools, materials, and equipment that they have control over (not necessarily on job sites) to eliminate theft, damage, and vandalism. Stores, maintains, and orders supplies such as vehicle lubrications, shop items (paint, fittings, fasteners, sealers, tie-downs, repair items) and others as directed by VP of Operations. All other duties and tasks requested and/or assigned by the Purchasing Manager.
